Chat Timeout Sensitivity too high after recent update

My chat messages seem to either not load for minutes or i get timed out after 2-3 messages which makes communicating as a non-mic user kinda difficult. The problem only became apparent after the update

adding my experience as well. my friend was muted as there was someone else in the room with them, and we had to repeatedly pause the conversation to allow them to contribute.

I didn't know they increased the timeout even more, but we've been frustrated by chatbox rate limiting since late 2024: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/chatbox-rate-limiting-too-aggressive

I am also experiencing this issue as someone who's recently gone nearly full time chat box user. I am consistently timed out for spam for up to 30 seconds when just having a normal conversation at around 70wpm.
This is occurring on the current open beta (1796).

Docteh Not exactly worse in a technical way, but worse in impact for Deaf users.
The recent changes made chatbox timeouts and muting more aggressive, and because Deaf users rely on chatbox as our primary communication, it means we are cut off completely.
For non-mic users, chat is often a backup. For Deaf users, it is the only option. That difference is why this report needs to stay separate and explicit about accessibility.

No I agree it makes me not want to play when I can’t use my mic if every three messages I get chat muted for 30 seconds. It’s really oppressive and makes communicating difficult. I hope they roll this change back soon.
