Change Into Avatar from VRChat Home has no effect in VRChat app without an app restart

I think the websocket server updates for avatar changes are currently paused, but this broke my workflow for reviewing new & recently updated public avatars.
I asked around and this issue affects several people. This issue started < 12 hours ago.
- Launch VRChat.
- Visit https://vrchat.com/home/avatar/avtr_c38a1615-5bf5-42b4-84eb-a8b6c37cbd11
- Click "Change Into Avatar" on VRChat Home. Notice "You have successfully changed avatars!" message on the website.
- Check in VRChat app. Nothing happens. Your "Current Avatar" indicates your previous avatar.
- Check your profile on VRChat Home. Your avatar has been changed.
- Restart VRChat. You'll now be the avatar you chose from VRChat Home.
Expected result: Change into the avatar in app a few seconds after clicking Change Into Avatar (step 3).
Actual behavior: I have to copy an avatar ID from VRChat Home and go to a dynamic avatar pedestral with an avatar ID input field to change into recently updated public avatars, because Change Into Avatar does nothing for the current client session.
I don't see a status update at https://status.vrchat.com/ indicating an issue. Could be temporarily related to: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/avatar-changes-sometimes-revert-back-to-the-previously-used-avatar-immediately-a
Picture: Current Avatar is Robot on VRChat Home (after step 3), but remains Outline Rusk in app (step 5).

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community Avatar changing via website works, but "Use as Fallback" on website has no effect in-app (without a restart?). There's supposed to be a pop-up in app telling my fallback avatar has been changed, but that pop-up never appears.
As a result, I'm unable to change my fallback avatars live at this moment.

WubTheCaptain: Can you please submit that as a separate issue?

Avatar changing via website seems to work now, even though the previous warning about restarting the client is displayed.
I noticed avatars are still reverting back to the previous, but oh well.

WubTheCaptain: Can you clarify what you mean by this? "I noticed avatars are still reverting back to the previous, but oh well."
WubTheCaptain
Tupper - VRChat Head of Community I clicked on an avatar pedestral once or twice to load a "DSC World Fallback" avatar, I got popups:
- "Avatar changed to DSC World Fallback"
- "Avatar changed to DSC World Fallback"
- "Avatar changed to WubTheCaptain's Rusk"
- "Avatar changed to DSC World Fallback"
- "Avatar changed to WubTheCaptain's Rusk"
At that point DSC World Fallback finished loading and I crashed (because it was a crasher avatar).

I got clarification from the team. That was actually the bug we were trying to fix!
So, we're back to previous behavior for now.

website to game syncing issue.

I, and many of my friends have had an issue with changing avatars through the website. When you click "change avatar" on the website, your avatar in game doesn't change unless you restart the game. this us extremely annoying and we'd like it fixed as soon as possible.

The new alert in VRChat Home about this issue when changing avatars or fallbacks is a welcomed change.

Changing avatars from the VRChat Home website or via API interaction was temporarily disabled to mitigate an ongoing issue. We're working on re-enabling it and are hoping to have a fix soon.
Changing avatars from within VRChat or using OSC still works fine.

avatar not working
ᴳᴬʸᴷᴬʸᴸᴬ
I am having an issue where changing my avatar from the VRChat website no longer works correctly. The problem started randomly about a week ago. Before this, changing avatars from the website worked normally. Now, when I go to the VRChat website and click “Change Into Avatar,” it says the avatar was changed successfully, and my website profile updates to show that avatar. However, when I open VRChat, my avatar does not change. I have tested this with multiple public avatars, including the default robot avatar, and the issue happens every time. The avatar also does not appear in my Recent Avatars in-game, changing avatars from inside VRChat works normally. The issue only happens when trying to change my avatar from the website.
My VRChat account in-game and on the website appears to be the same account. My username matches, and I can change avatars normally inside the game. It also says "avatar changed successfully" but nothing changes in game

Can't change avatars via the website
K3llySc3n3mayu
So I logged on wanting to look at avatars, I opened the website and click on change avatar. Nothing happens, some time my stuff bugs out and avis stack so I change into another avatar. Again nothing, I look and it hasn't even changed the profile on my account, but it as on the website. I've reset my computer and my steam vr, still nothing and I've seen about three reports about this on the discord.
