Avatar changes sometimes revert back to the previously used avatar immediately after switching.

Sometimes, immediately after changing avatars, I see a message saying something like "Changed to (original avatar name)," which is strange, and then my avatar switches back to the one I was previously using.
The avatar I attempted to switch to is barely displayed, if at all. Instead, it appears to go through the sequence: original avatar → loading → original avatar. It looks as though the avatar change is triggered twice in rapid succession, causing the corresponding loading process to run twice as well.
This is a recent issue. It doesn't happen all the time, but it occurs occasionally. It happens regardless of whether I change avatars using the in-game Wing Menu, the main menu, or via OSC.
I'm using the Unity 6 version, but this feels more like a networking issue than a Unity-specific one, so I'm submitting it as a regular Bug Report.

A fix for this was deployed on Friday the 24th. I have heard in some places though the issue is rarely still occurring, if you are someone still affected please share reproduction steps in a comment

Definitely still happens fairly often to my account. On saturday the 25th it occured about 5 times.
We are plural so the sudden jerk back to the other avatar triggers rapid switching and causes distress and headaches so isnt a minor issue.
I use the side panel and favorite avatar 1 slots, and it occurs randomly when switching between any of my uploaded avatars. We only use one public avatar and that part isnt out often so I dont know if the publics are also included or if its account specific.
No reproducable specifics but frequent enough its a relative every day issue, except last night was the first night in a while it didnt happen, but we'll only switched parts... 10 times in a 4 hour period, which is actually pretty low for us, so it may be partly as a user our average swaps are abnormally high. But the worst was during peak hours on a saturday, so I suspect its something going wrong between the client and the servers.

I'm aware this can also occur on the main branch client (VRChat 2026.2.3p3

). I don't have any specific reproduction steps at this time, it's random, but I've been using the right side winglet to change avatars when this bug has occurred to me.May be related to an older issue, where the right side winglet shows two avatars highlighted at the same time.

So this issue have been going on for a while now and it's getting even worse, i've noticed and seen and also experienced trying to swap into a different avatar, only for the game to reswap me back into the one i was before, and now it tends to do that more then ones, this has been such a annoying bug for everyone, not just me, please please please look into it.

Is the websocket server no longer sending avatar change updates to VRChat client, related to this issue? When I change avatars on the website, it's changed on the website but not live in-app despite multiple attempts to switch avatars in between.
The issue I'm describing started or became worse this morning, in the past 12 hours.

It started happening much more frequently, occurring two or three times between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM JST on July 18.
