Image content filtering for custom emojis among other custom emoji tools
available in future release
_Silent
Right now we have very little tools to curate our Custom Emoji experiences. We can barely do so on individual level, and just cannot do so on a community management level (even if someone throws up an unsavory custom emoji it is near impossible to identify said person in a room of 80). Things should be much more proactive than user reporting. I understand its near impossible to content filter avatars, but its also hard and takes time to upload an avatar. Content filtering pngs on the other hand should be simple, there are countless solutions for that. And if its not simple, then VRchat is not ready for Custom Emojis.
We need tools for community emoji management
We need image filtering
We need group and world control over custom emojis
We need a log system so we can see who throws what emoji
We need tools to help moderate your platform if you wont do it yourself

We're absolutely aware that custom emoji (and other image uploads) on VRChat can be used for these purposes. Reports are good, and we action them, but it does take quite a while to work through reports -- and by that time, the problem has already occured.
We have been investigating and have already been implementing methods to proactively scan and moderate images uploaded to VRChat. These methods employ services that are also employed on other platforms, much larger than VRChat.
I don't have more info now, but I saw this pop up in my inbox. Wanted to let you know that it is in progress and is nearing deployment.
Since it's a moderation-related system, I can't give much more detail than that, but I'll share what I can when possible!
Edit: Oh, and we've also added in tracked items to consider better ways to see who sent what emoji, or see what emoji a user has access to. Those are probably "later on" things because we're confident the scanning systems can solve a majority of these issues first.

like feeding user images into AI?

ᴋᴀᴡᴀ: Our solution utilizes a third-party service that uses machine-learning image classification. If you're familiar with CLIP image classification, it's similar.
The provider we're using is very widely used.

🤔🤔🤔 I see, is it only for user uploads or it is also includes screenshots made by automated monitoring? (ToS 13.4.)

ᴋᴀᴡᴀ: Right now this system covers user image uploads.

I totally agree, and, if that's too much to ask, I think that disabling custom emojis in user options and whensetting an instance can work as well.
Shouldn't be hard to make and hou get some sort of content filtering.
