Change Avatar Size Limit Back for sizedown.
Gobit
So originally I thought this was a bug regarding this situation but apparently it isnt.
There are alot of VRChat avatars that are below the size 0.1 including custom made size scalers already that let you go as small or big as you want.
The thing is that locally you can be as small as you want but to others you will be capped to 0.1. I think that is a bit misleading and would prefer it to be back to how it was before letting me be as small as I want, witch the actual limit was 0.03 [thats how small you can be while still hitting your button menu]
I understand the limiting of how big someone can get and since world creators themselves can already limit you in their worlds, even forcing your size in areas should be enough already.
Alot of people including me really enjoy being these levels of small for many reasons, I get alot comfort out of being that size so it would be great to be able to do it again!
If anything, please fix/add where you dont allow avatars that are below 0.1 in general, cause I dont want my friends and me get misled when someone headpats me and their finger is above me by alot, ruining immersion.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but as other helpful community members have stated, changing the lower size limit will affect user experiences in negative ways. While local scaling might seem accurate for some users, it can cause rendering discrepancies for others, especially on different devices like the Quest or Android. The current limits were chosen due to numerous technical limitations which have been explained repeatedly, and we have no intention of changing these limits.

Scout - VRChat Head of Quality Assurance: Can you at least fix the bug with de-synced scaling between local and remote when those limits are exceeded by the avatar's natural size.
That would be appreciated

AirGamer: I'm happy to take a look. Is there a canny post for this issue?
AirGamer
Scout - VRChat Head of Quality Assurance: There is this canny https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/avatar-heightscailing-mismatchun-synced which mentions avatars greater than 100m, but avatars less than <0.1m also suffer the same issue.
There used to be a more popular canny post, but it was incorrectly merged with another canny.

Gobit: "we have no intention of changing these limits."
You can keep going until the heat death of the universe Gobit but technical limitations with the Unity Engine make this a fruitless endeavor because it is actually impossible and honestly, it'd be more worthwhile putting your time and energy elsewhere instead of putting your fingers in your ears. Keep in mind, Unity isn't the
only
engine with limitations similar to this. Sorry to be so realist about it especially because it pertains to your identity, but it's just how this engine works. Either way I don't think VRChat is interested at all in changing the limits to something which would inevitably lead to worse user experiences.Gobit
Salbug: Thats fine, takes less then a minute to type ^^
Never gonna give up! Also they edited their message lol can never predict what will happen in the future 100%.
AirGamer
Scout - VRChat Head of Quality Assurance: Found a second canny for this issue https://feedback.vrchat.com/open-beta/p/1312-remote-avatar-height-discrepancy
Salbug
AirGamer: That is unrelated actually. That canny is discussing an issue with height being clamped remotely causing users to look like they're floating for others.
AirGamer
Salbug: It was the bug that I was asking Scout to have a look at (see second, third and fourth post on this comment thread)
I had responded with the first canny at the time. but since found a second canny describing the same bug.
It seems the canny treated my reply as just another comment, which somewhat lost the context of my reply

You're going to hate this suggesiton, but- genuinely... if the scale community is as large as you claim it is (pun slightly intended) and you guys have deterministic set "limits" for yourselves (your proposed goal of 0.03m)..... then..... well...... why don't members make
bigger worlds
roughly proportional to how much smaller they want to feel
past the set limit?Gobit
Table: Supply and demand really, I mean there are size worlds already dedicated for this but yknow its nothing compared being small in a natural space in VRChat.
It can make worlds super fun to explore, also I dont hate you for that ^^ I apprecaite your reply!
Whats fun about VRChat is that size stuff is possible, so naturally big communites are formed spanning thousands of people!
Table
Gobit: I then see this as less of a technical challenge and more of a mix between a creative and social one! VRChat cannot
physically
do anything about addressing the issue (as it's been explained in the reply below mine) so... the onus should then be on the size community to overcome the creative/social hurdles needed to accomodate their interests.(the solution is to make a
lot
of big worlds and get your friends to hang out in them)Gobit
Table: Not for me, may for some, I wont give up though ^^
Yewnyx
You have as much chance of changing this behavior as you do changing the color of the sky.
> "≈ 1.00097656 smallest number larger than one"
Four digits of accuracy doesn't seem like much, but remember that you have 2000-ish pixels in each direction, i.e. 0.0005.
You mathematically cannot get this small without making the rendering buggy.
Gobit
Yewnyx: 0.03 is the smalles you can get while being able to play the game and still click buttons in your menu, yeah it may cause rendering issues in some worlds but most worlds its perfectly fine!
You can still get this small locally no problem, I dont see the point of forching the remote end side of others to see you as 0.1 when you yourself is smaller.
Yewnyx
Gobit: you actually don't know what you're talking about.
"works for me on PC mostly" means
it still breaks on PC
and it definitely breaks way worse on Quest
.And VRChat's rendering is actually
Unity's
rendering, so even if VRChat wanted to make this work well, they actually are unlikely to be able to fix the engine-level limitations. You can't fix this.
Gobit
Yewnyx: ILL NEVER GIVE UP!
Yewnyx
Gobit: That's like asking your parents to ask your landlord to rewire all their buildings because you want a 100 gigabit connection.
You can yell forever about it, but everyone knows you're never going to get any results.
Gobit
Yewnyx: Thats okay, you can carry on with your day cause im no concern for you ^^
This is something important to me and ill keep requesting and fighting for it, you will not demotivate me.
Yewnyx
personally, it's important to me that when I punch a big rock, it eventually cracks. I'm going to go ask the park supervisor to change the hardness of the rocks, and by god, they will eventually have to listen to me.
Gobit
Yewnyx: May not happen anytime soon, but I will have hope in the future it will be possible again ^^
And ill be there still asking for that change :D

Gobit From past avatar experience I find that .06 is a rather decent limit while not being annoying to other either. It seems sufficient enough to get fun out of. And also enjoy the sizing down aspect. I don't expect The Black Cat or The Great pug sizing everything up tons due to it also causing issues described above so .06 seems like a good compromise.
