Timeout for server side (re)analysis is too short

For Users
This canny is about error avatar after very long "Unpacking".
Since VRChat show waiting for server size (re) analysis as "Unpacking", it seem error avatar means unpacking avatar failed but actually server side analysis timeout.
I made another canny about the incorrect message: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/unpacking-is-shown-while-server-side-avatar-reanalyzing-which-should-be-like-ana
Description of this problem
Sorry I experienced this problem since Open Beta but I don't have enough time to write a canny so I write now.
The timeout time for waiting for server side avatar (re)analysis is too short as we may experience error avatar.
If the avatar is small & lightweight enough and the server is not jammed, no error avatar (with waiting several tens of seconds) but some relatively heavy avatar or server is jammed, we experience error avatar.
I feel timeout for server side (re)analysis is too short

Closing this as based on discussion this was due to a temporary interruption and have heard no comments since stating other occurrences. An ongoing thing I've been doing since the latest major release is tuning this system to minimise the occurrence and time of the server processing step, I've made some progress however there's more I'd like (and plan) to do.
If anyone does experience any sort of abnormal avatar loading issue when making a post here on canny or messaging support please do include logs, a timestamp and avatar id (or avatar name + author). It really helps quickly diagnose what's might be going wrong, without most of that info it can be hard to investigate. Though I won't be able to really do much over the holidays I'll be continuing to keep an eye out for issues of this sort so they can be tackled quickly in the new year.

One example at last night is avatar avtr_a5df7ecc-d308-4116-8907-8a7a73f5375c at 23:30 JST. error avatar is shown for usr_15bf6fde-751f-42c4-a2a9-a5a8e82ba2fc (the user wear the avatar).
Since it's not on my PC i cannot show log file, sorry.
And I don't have recorded when error occurs in my PC so I could not say any which avatar was affected for me (some avatar are shown as error avatar looks due to this though)
I think I can reprocuce within few days. When I reproduced the problem I'll send log and avatar id (or author & name)

anatawa12: ah, during that time yesterday there was unexpected load causing a backlog. Additional capacity has been added during the observed time now as a precaution and I'll be continuing to keep a close eye on it. In the case of a backlog something like increasing the processing wait time would not help unfortunately

OK, if the load yesterday is very rare and temporal, it should be announced somewhere when your team detected, or after resolving issue, I think. Could you announce them publicly, please (in the future).
I thought the load time is regular time and cause timeout in the future (when next performance rank calculation method is deployed).
Unless we received some announce, we think it's permanent.

euan Currently, where is the best place to report these issues and refer the latest server status?
So many users are confused and had frustrations by this issue. You can see some of them on the responses to this post https://x.com/honobono_lily/status/1866496072715325681

I did debate on posting something however that was after investigating and resolving the issue (I had just woken up and noticed the issue so was more focused on fixing it). I've been thinking for some time on the best way to communicate any interruptions to the system, if there is a post I would likely post it to status.vrchat.com or have a section there indicating it's current state.
> Unless we received some announce, we think it's permanent.
To clarify unless it explicitly says "Security Checks Failed" it shouldn't be assumed an error avatar is due to security checks

This post (for this specific issue) or generally this site (feedback.vrchat.com)
> refer the latest server status
status.vrchat.com or our discord

euan Understood. I expect the team improve the info on status.vrchat.com including these. (Relenctly, newcomer don't join the VRChat main discord

Thank you for telling the internal discussion, and Thank you for stating the server issue on the release note today.
The cause of this canny is temporary, It's expected to response in short time in the future, Seeing timeout is server issue, and response time is reasonably short yesterday so I think it's ready to close this canny.
