Since a recent update, Shadow users can no longer launch VRChat. It feels like we’ve been banned.

After further investigation, we have determined that these issues with Shadow PC are outside of our control, and are not a result of any configurations we have changed. We cannot make changes to VRChat or its configuration that would fix these issues, or future issues with Shadow related to this particular problem.
We understand completely that continued issues with Shadow may come as a disappointment, and that some users utilize Shadow to access VRChat. We feel it too - some of our team members are affected by these problems as well.
While VRChat may work under VMs such as Shadow PC, we cannot guarantee support for any specific VM setup. There are many factors at play and nearly all of them are outside of our ability to affect or control. As we note in our documentation, using VRChat via a Virtual Machine is not directly supported, but is possible to do if you are an interested player with the appropriate technical expertise.
In other words: "it might work, but we can't guarantee it'll keep working, and we won't help you if it breaks." That might sound harsh, but we simply don't have the ability to support these types of setups.
In this particular case, the most we can do is encourage those affected to contact Shadow's support for more information.

This is completely ridiculous, yall fixed it before only to mess it up again?? Vrchat is going to lose so much if this persists, bye bye vrchat+
Im not paying for or buying anything else until the issue is handled.

Cancel your VRC+ !!! We must get them to care!! It IS VRChat's fault, not EAC. THEY ARE LYING

From ShadowPC support:
"we are aware of this recent anti-cheat block showing up with VR Chat, and are working to get this resolved, as improving game compatibility is a high priority for us this year"

If you are using Shadow PC and can't play VRChat due to the Easy Anti-Cheat VM error, we need to make some noise. The VRChat docs explicitly list a fix for this (XML config change), but only Shadow admins have the access to apply it. If enough of us send support tickets asking for this specific fix, we can push them to implement it globally or per user.
Right now, please submit a support ticket to Shadow at https://eu.shadow.tech/manager/support and use the same issue topic as in the picture with the text below:
"Hello, I am a Shadow user and my primary use case for this service is to play VRChat, but I am unable to do so due to Easy Anti-Cheat blocking Virtual Machines. VRChat provides an official documentation fix for this that requires a simple change to the VM's XML config (specifically enabling Hyper-V passthrough or adding a vendor_id).
Please escalate this to your technical team. Enabling this setting would resolve the issue for the entire VRChat community on Shadow without impacting performance. Reference: https://docs.vrchat.com/docs/using-vrchat-in-a-virtual-machine. Thank you."
Copy that and send it to: https://eu.shadow.tech/manager/support
Can we get this pinned? Let's get this fixed!!!

DashyDoggo this is a workaround that WILL fail later. The real fix is have the devs disable EAC checks for virtual machines. Not like there are aimbots in VRC...
DashyDoggo
Tiky8192 You're right and they technically have the power to disable it. It does also raise the question as to why they have documentation about a backdoor to make VMs pose as a physical PC, but then not have VM checks disabled. It seems like it would break their "security model" entirely. Very contradicting if you ask me. I guess if they just disabled the check globally there would be more low-effort rippers and crashers.
Whatever the case is, the most reachable fix I can see right now is using an existing workaround that VRC has posted themselves and approves of since they aren't willing to/or haven't yet removed the check themselves and asking ShadowPC to implement it.

VRC won't launch in VM Parallels (EAC setting)
SpaceCowboy121
It seems the EAC built into VRC is out of date or has a setting not enabled to allow the game to run correctly.
I tried both Crossover (A Wine / Proton fork) and Parallels (A Virtual Machine Windows 11)

Cannot run under Virtual Machine.

- Open VRChat through Steam on Linux virtual machine e.g. VMWare
- Look for error popup "Launch Error"
Documentation doesn't provide any helpful solution for this error: https://docs.vrchat.com/docs/using-vrchat-in-a-virtual-machine
