I would like to be able to set a fallback in VRChat for avatars that meet the avatar performance rank without having to specify them when uploading.

Currently, avatars will only be registered as fallback avatars if they meet the fallback avatar criteria by enabling the checkbox when uploading them. The standard for fallback avatars is that the avatar performance rank is Good or higher, so why do you need to go to the trouble of uploading them as fallback avatars? If the avatar meets the criteria, we expect a UI that will be displayed at the bottom of the "Change Avatar" button on the VRChat settings screen.
This feature is very useful if you are implementing a tool that performs optimization at build time, and will expand your fallback avatar options.

I feel that for fallbacks Medium should be plenty good. Forcing the need to have Good rating just to set your avatar as a fallback feels a bit too much for me. It is simply insane to expect it when the majority of people stop at medium rank on Quest due to being unable to find anywhere else on their avatars to optimize without destroying the mesh of their avatar entirely.
VRChat please downgrade the minimum rating for fallback avatars to Medium, that should be good enough for most people and does not kill performance much at all either. With Quest 3 being better than the Quest 2, I think when Quest 4 comes by then Quest 2 would meet the same fate as the Quest 1 in VRChat, which then would mean that Medium Rank would be just as performant as the Good Rank avatars on the Quest 2.

I haven't confirmed whether this ( https://feedback.vrchat.com/sdk-bug-reports/p/vrcsdk330-incorrectly-determined-fallback-avatar-button ) bug occurs in the latest version, but I think setting a
fallback without upload is also effective for this as a workaround. (If SDK won't be fixed.)
