[SDK 3.8.1-beta.4] Support VRC Light Volumes in Toon Standard
kurotu
VRC Light Volumes is a voxel based light probes replacement for VRChat.
Once it's introduced to avatar shaders, their appearance would be amazingly improve in appropriate worlds. Major shaders like lilToon and Poiyomi already support this system in the latest version.
It would be great if Toon Standard also support this. Mobile users also can get benefits.

I was actually thinking last week that the lighting of the avatars and worlds should be synced, no matter what the lighting source is. Because it's really annoying sometimes, and really really beautiful! I respect REDSIM, and the others who supported their prefab! Good job!
owlboy
Eliх what do you mean by synced?
Eliх
owlboy Uhhh I meant that, usually in worlds the avatars don't have the lighting the world has, but only the shader of the avatar itself. But with this Prefab, the lighting of the world is synced with the avatars, and they don't look "separated". And it's really cool :'D

Would be awesome to have a native componant that doesn't rely on udon and support for the VRChat mobile shaders :D

Wouldn't be the first time that you guys added a bakery feature into your shaders. Would be an amazing addition

Light Volumes is the best shader I've seen, it literally creates an atmosphere of realism. Usually avatars are ugly lit just by changing the brightness or using realtime light. Light Volumes is a performance solution that looks very good

We liked it a lot.

Yes! Please!

From what I understand, VRC devs don’t want to integrate it because it’s a community-made asset. Performance-wise, it’s incredible — tested with 108 skinned meshes and unique materials on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and not a single frame was dropped

Vard VRChat could have just whitelisted Bakery light volumes in the first place and we wouldn't have needed this new Udon translation layer in the first place, but they just won't make people's lives easier. They'd rather live and die by the absolutely garbage light probes instead.
owlboy
Enverex Not everyone has access to Bakery. I'm glad VRC Light Volumes exsists.
Enverex
owlboy Does VRCLV not use Bakery Light Volumes? It's what it adds automatically for me.
owlboy
Enverex I'm not sure about those technical details. But Let's say Bakery is not available to me, and VRCLV does not exist. How would I participate then? I'm not sure what your point is.
Enverex
owlboy You would buy Bakery. Just like people had to buy Dynamic Bones - Bakery is pretty universal at this point and anyone serious about development likely already owns it. The native Unity implementation is just bad and the whole platform is effectively held back because of it.
owlboy
Enverex That’s really presumptive, I think. Do you think the guy who makes the pug uses it?
Enverex
owlboy I'd think it would be odd to hamstring yourself by not using it.
