I'm yet to use this SDK, but I had people report this bug to me...:
Attached below is the error they get when uploading an avatar.
HotFix: Hide and unhide the avatar prefab in the hierarchy.

Should be workable around by switching away from the SDK Builder tab and back to it, then setting an avatar description.
