[1879] Nameplate Redesign to restore missing functionality
Yargon
The new nameplates are a good step in the right direction of de-cluttering, but I think they're an over-correction.
The current redesign removes important functionality with the removal of the Mute, Earmuffs and Platform indicators. Additionally, the Shield Level, Performance Ranks and Age Verification icons are not explained well, requiring new users to find them elsewhere to understand them.
There are issues with the Nameplate also cutting off the Pronouns section by placing it next to the name, and the text sizes all being too similar in size, leading to readability issues.
I suggest a redesign (shown attached), that splits the nameplate into 3 main sections; 1. Banner 2. Nameplate and 3. Additional Info, explained bellow:
-=[Banner]=-
The Banner should be relatively unobstructed. This is an area for groups to advertise and for users to customise. While I've enlarged it slightly here, the main focus is removing the icons from it. Especially having the age verification logo here makes it easy to fake having age verification, so no info is shown over the banner other than the group name.
-=[Nameplate]=-
Really the meat and potatoes of what the Nameplate actually is, this should remain the same, opened or closed. Information here is ordered by importance, with an Icon shown as it was before, and the name in larger letters (including the Yellow for friends). I've left the yellow border here, as it's a good distinction between the sections and generally I'm a fan of this idea. Alongside this, I've returned the Mute and Earmuffs icons to the nameplate area. These are extremely important to know when talking to people, so I think they need to return, and in a place of prominence. I would also suggest the Earmuffs icon fade to red as you exit their earmuffs range, so you know when you can't be heard. Other relevant user-to-user statuses should be displayed here too, such as the Interactions disabled icon.
-=[Additional Info]=-
When the nameplate is in its closed state, the icons for Performance, Shield Level, Platform and (if relevant) Age Verification, are shown in a row to the left, while Pronouns are shown to the right.
When the nameplate is opened, the Platform and Age Verification status drop down to a second row, as each expands to include the textual names. The pronouns section also expands, allowing otherwise truncated pronouns to be more visible as this is an issue at current.
The least important piece of information when you are talking to someone face-to-face (and thus can see their nameplate) is their colour coded status. I have here drawn it as a circular border around the Icon, though perhaps a discord style overlay dot is more appropriate with the new icon frames.
