It's still possible by other means, but idk if I can say how as I like to play Tetris on my chatbox and I don't want it broken.
(People love watching it, I always get a good reaction lol)

StormRel Since this is an intended change: Seems like some people already found a workaround for it
NotAChance
Hackebein: man you're already dobbing on me
That's cold man 😕

StormRel: rejoice! one less thing chatbox spammers can use

StormRel: I highly disagree with this decision. You've intentionally taken away a tool that makes it easier to format the chatbox (even for non-spammy reasons).
Edit: I've now been told that this is intentional purely to block special characters for security reasons... That could've been mentioned as a reason here which is why I'm forwarding this information to the canny

SlateTheFennec: StormRel Tupper - VRChat Head of Community I get the frustration – VRChat yanking the rug out from under the community like this isn't just inconvenient, it's a slap in the face to both users and chatbox devs. No heads-up, no patch notes, nothing. It's like they're trying to ghost a feature that a chunk of the community actually digs.
And sure, security's a big deal, but come on, there's got to be a middle ground. A mute chatbox option, maybe or talk with the chatbox devs how we can solve this.
Something that lets people opt-out if they're not into the chatbox thing without nixing it for everyone else. It's about choice.
This feels like a rerun of the whole mod debacle, and not in a good way. Chatbox developers pour time and creativity into these tools, and this silent treatment? That's just low. Users and creators deserve some respect and a say in the game they're a part of. It's about time VRChat remembers that.

PinkPinky: We're already resolving this issue, but thanks for the feedback!

PinkPinky: Agreed, When I found a workaround (within 5 minutes of discovering this is a thing), a LOT is more going on, for instance, the height of the grey box is limited, and the text itself overflows, there's weird viewing angles for larger chatboxes and it goes right through the player if it gets too big rather than hoisting itself up.
It's horrible, but I found ways to make it work.

PinkPinky: Here's snake running on my chatbox... works but not ideal.

NotAChance i dont wanna be that person, but this is the reason we need individual chatbox mutes
NotAChance
°sky I understand that, and I do agree, but the most common reason why people mute others for their chatbox I find is because of music/pc stats, I get quite the opposite reaction when I play snake and tetris on the chatbox. currently I'm demastering doom into the chatbox.
