Tested in desktop mode.

Previously, clicking on a URL input field would pop up the input box with virtual keyboard. Typing on the physical keyboard would then work without any other action.

On build 1400, you have to actually click on the text box "Enter text..." to have your keyboard input (physical keyboard) be accepted.

Edit: I just did more testing and it appears the input is being directed to the input field object in the world, rather than the input popup. It is unclear if this is the "visual bug" referenced in the announcement in the Discord.
