[1370]AvPro Screens Black Frames
tracked

This bug has been hard to reproduce however I may have some leads.
1.This seems to be an issue with multiple AvPro screens.
2.Have lower frame rate (I only really find this in Vr)
3.The further away you get from a one of the screens the more likely it will occur.
If any further information is required I will try my best to provide more. I have seen this happen in a few worlds, Bellow I have a video that shows the bug in action. Over the next few day I will try to build a list of worlds that I can replicate this issue in.

Its been months since I have been having this issue and more and more of my friends are starting to see the black frame issue with multiple video players since the sticker update.

AVPro has published a new version which includes a fix specifically for the flickering "transparent" frames issue.
I have confirmed that this does resolve the flickering problem in scenes with unstable framerates.
I have reproduced this with a sample scene from a unity asset store pack and a bunch of real-time reflection probes to destabilize the framerate.
Here is the recording of that repro: https://streamable.com/l6vz4h
First 1/3rd is the 2.8.5 repro, last 2/3rds is me trying to trigger it on 3.0.0 with the same exact scene setup.
VRChat should review and update to AVPro 3.0.0 to resolve this issue.

The black frame flickering issue seems to be an artifact of AVPro when VRChat is not stably generating frames to meet the expected FPS settings.
Here is my observation of what happens when I change the FPS settings on my 75hz monitor using the world posted in the comment from 2 days ago. https://streamable.com/ycwvu1
A temporary mitigation I found, for desktop at least, is to cap the framerate to the refresh rate (or just use vsync mode which does that dynamically) to try to stabilize the framerate. In VR, you'll need to decrease your render resolution settings or adjust some other performance settings to alleviate the issue.

Adding the launch param --disable-hw-video-decoding appears to also mitigate that issue in the interim.

Further update: I have confirmed that the source of the issue is actually this issue https://github.com/RenderHeads/UnityPlugin-AVProVideo/issues/1637
"Black frames" are caused by the Invisible frames described in the linked issue being rendered as black because most video player shaders are opaque and do not do transparency. So when the invisible frame is encountered from AVPro, the pixels are rendered as black.
Using an Unlit/Transparent texture I was able to validate the correlation of the two issues.

This is _VERY LIKELY_ something that AVPro themselves must fix. So if you want to complain, updoot this post https://github.com/RenderHeads/UnityPlugin-AVProVideo/issues/1700#issuecomment-1871246889
