Another user joining your instance can cause the "Person has joined your instance" notification to persist.
It can be removed after some more people join, or by disabling and re-enabling the HUD.

Looks like this also happens with the notification box. Got a friend request, and the notif box opened, but then closed but not all the way, sticking around as a thin line.
