For users impacted by this bug:
Launch the game and
immediately pull the battery from your controller.
Try to have it disconnect before the game has a chance to load. Once the game shows the login screen you are safe to put the battery back in.You can also use a bluetooth enabled gamepad as a
second controller
, then disconnect the gamepad later after the game is launched. (bluetooth supported xbox controllers work, unsure about ds4)
Why do these bypass the bug... ?

NotAKidoS: Thank you for your info! I'd like to tell some tips additionally.
If you turn "auto switch for hand tracking" OFF and disconnect controllers, you can see white dot at the center of your view and can select items pressing "vol down" button without controllers. So you don't need a quick action for the first method above.
I tested on Quest 2 so I don't know it works for Quest 1.
Here's an article about turning off auto hand tracking switch by Oculus:
I hope this helps.

for some people who tried the beta there are issues with the camera and photos will no longer save. and for some that use EMM that is also broken for them and no longer works. also the menu is super small and for those who have vision impairments it can be hard to see. we should definitely bring back the old stuff.

StwawbewyKitty: EMM isn't supported or endorsed by VRChat in any way. If the modification broke, that is not on VRChat to fix. You can get banned for using a modified client.
(dont give me "vrc allowed it", no they did not...)
Photos do indeed save! They are sorted into dated folders now to keep your PC from lagging when opening the folder, as well as to keep organized.
There is a canny for implementing a way to increase the menu size if you'd like to vote on it:
This UI is miles better than the old one. Give it some time and you'll grow on it too. :>

NotAKidoS: I don’t personally use emm I’ve just been told by others who do that it’s broken. As for the folder when I tested the beta I got the folder but now my photos no longer save to that folder since the update

NotAKidoS: I’m sure it’s cool and all but I really wish for this bug to be fixed because I know I’m not the only one who’s had this issue with photos not saving

This bug prevents players with dead, broken, disconnected, and missing controllers from starting the game on quest headsets. The game has a one-handed mode built in, and has always worked with one controller until now. Sad to see this issue make it to release, but hopefully it is higher priority now that it is impacting more users.
Currently have two friends of mine who can not play as of this update. Would appreciate any word on this issue.

This update is stupid.. one of my Oculus Quest 2 controller at the moment does not want to pair with my headset. This new update made it so both controllers must be connected in order to launch but some people might have broken controllers as well and might not be able to get a controller as wellfix this please this is dumb
