If characters outside the ASCII range (e.g. Japanese) are set for the custom status, they will not be displayed on the nameplate.

If a Japanese character is followed by an alphabetic character, the first alphabetic character will be displayed, but the characters after the Japanese character will not be displayed. If the Japanese character is followed by an alphabetic character, the second alphabetic character will not be displayed in the first place.
