Whisper Mode

As updates has rolled out, we were given a Earmuff Mode, which allows users to control how many conversations they hear in their selected preferences. I believe we need this but also the other way around, to where the user can control how many people can hear THEIR conversation, as voice falloff is already a thing in most worlds, but barley maintained or edited. Earmuff Mode and Whisper Mode goes hand to hand and I believe it would benefit a lot of people. Especially for those side needed conversations.
There is multiple ways this can be implemented. It can follow the same rules/settings as earmuff mode, but instead its control over the distance of our voice to what the world also allows (dont wanna hear someone across the whole world). Long Press Mute button can also activate it, etc.

One way I can see this being implemented (boutta ripoff Resonite) is having a private sphere that only friends could enter and hear you in, applying earmuff mode to themselves and stopping people from hearing what goes on inside.
Totally my original not stolen idea of course

One way I could see this implemented is that the falloff distance can dynamically change depending of your mic/voice volume. The more quiet you talk, shorter will be the falloff of your voice audio source. So naturally, whispering would only allow near people to actually hear you. This could be enabled by the user who wants to whisper and a UI would appears to visualize your realtime voice distance

My only fear with this is when you have a group of people huddled together, and only a couple are using whisper mode and the others aren't. That means, you'd only hear
half
of the conversation. On a side note, I do like this in the case for RP. There's no good way to control whether or not you're whispering to someone in the corner or yelling to the entire room.

frostyfrog: As ive come to notice, these moments already happen based on peoples ability to pay attention to certain parts or people in a conversation because of multiple factors. Sensory overload, EARMUFF mode, bad voice fall off, and our just someone talks lower across from you compared to the one on your side. Tbh, I feel this would help encourage proper group conversations instead of one another attempting to over talk the other because someone CAN be louder.

I think this is a good idea as well. My only criticism of this is the possibility people could say really terrible TOS breaking things and not be caught, because no one around them is able to hear them.

moonorama: then private rooms that can be locked shouldnt be allowed

moonorama: whats the issue if no one hears it

Upvoting this! I like being able to limit how far away i hear someone. I then get anxiety about who can hear me and if im being annoying. So being able to adjust my own voice spread would be perfect. A "whisper" of sorts

Support. Talking quietly is such a natural part of conversation irl.
