VR "AFK Communication Solution"
Superfluff
Allow users to communicate while their VR headset is temporarily set down.
When the headset is on the desk, we can still hear world audio.
Keyboard input already passes through.
The VRChat desktop window is already running.
However, there is no usable way to open the chatbox or control the mic while not looking through the HMD.
This is not a request to switch to Desktop mode.
Minimal concept:
Add an optional button in the VRChat desktop window that opens a simple chatbox input field.
This would allow users to temporarily respond using their keyboard while the headset is off.
An optional extension could be temporarily selecting a different microphone device in the same window. However, the core request is only basic chat access — mic override is secondary.
No camera switch.
No VR/Desktop transition.
No runtime state changes.
Just minimal communication access while the headset is down.
Why this matters:
During long VR sessions, I sometimes put my headset down for a few minutes but can still hear everything through my PC speakers. If someone talks to me, I currently have no simple way to respond without putting the headset back on, even though I am still present and listening.
