Update AVPro to 3.4.1
Haxy
There's a fix in 3.4.1 for this issue:
This is currently blocking a WIP update for VRCVideoCacher that switches YouTube playback over to use the SABR protocol.
The move to SABR is mainly to future-proof things, as YouTube keeps increasing its bot checks and the legacy streams are becoming less reliable.
There's also the possibility that YouTube could eventually remove the legacy streams entirely.
If that happens, the current playback method would stop working, making YouTube playback unavailable until a SABR-based solution is in place.
Updating AVPro to 3.4.1 would unblock that work, help keep YouTube playback working going forward, and also enable support for up to 8K YouTube playback once the VRCVideoCacher update is released.

Bump! Go fix that shit 360p annoying..

GT4tube Notifying some 500+ users subscribed to this VRChat Feedback topic via email with a "Bump!" message isn't going to change things magically, but plausibly frustrate readers with off-topic or spam.
You're invited to contribute to https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/pull/13515 and understand there are other difficult underlying problems to solve too, mainly the lack of support to play separate video+audio format downloads in video players - without caching and merging fully downloaded formats with ffmpeg locally, or via a proxy server.
The
sabr
proto formats are video only, from what I remember. Most https
formats without PO tokens / logged-in session cookies from YouTube are also video only, except for ANDR-V format 18 (360p) which is pre-muxed with audio+video - which is what you're seeing now in VRChat. The lack of 1080p formats in the current yt-dlp
2026.07.04
is a simple consequence of YouTube dropping the high-quality WEB-S m3u8 formats with pre-muxed audio+video for visitors. The new VISI formats (m3u8 and https from the
visionos
extractor) are also video only / audio only, separate formats and not directly usable as such.WubTheCaptain
GT4tube The previous comment was my convoluted way to say: This topic won't fix how YouTube has only one 360p audio+video format available for VRChat in general (without significant changes elsewhere), but it'll improve audio playback from streamed formats.

I have also confirmed an issue with AVPro.
For users with AMD Radeon graphics cards, when playing Twitch live streams in Visvid or YamaPlayer, the video becomes corrupted and VRChat itself starts to stutter.
This issue does not occur when using the Unity Player in iwaSync, so I believe the problem is related to AVPro.
There is also an issue with YouTube playback, where videos are sometimes not played back in Full HD (1080p) even when they should be.
For these reasons, I would like to request an update to AVPro. I'm not sure whether updating AVPro will resolve these issues, but I hope it may help.

I tried a number of things, and it turns out that iwaSync also uses AVPro for live streams. I hadn't fully understood that before.
So it seems this issue is probably unrelated to AVPro.
WubTheCaptain
かるべー The video becoming corrupted in Twitch live streams may be related to the video player being configured with "Use Low Latency" by world authors, and is unrelated to this issue. See: https://github.com/RenderHeads/UnityPlugin-AVProVideo/issues/697
The unavailability of pre-muxed YouTube 1080p formats from
web
, web_safari
(and in the future visionos
) extractors is (kinda) unrelated to this issue. Only android_vr
extracted YouTube format 18 (pre-muxed 360p) is currently usable in VRChat. See: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/17143There's no SABR support in upstream yt-dlp yet. See: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/pull/13515
OP is requesting an update to AVPro 3.4.1 or later so that he can make VRCVideoCacher restream downloaded/cached SABR video formats as "live" stream video in existing VRChat video players reliably, as far as I understand it.

WubTheCaptainThank you so much! I never expected that a problem I'd been struggling with for so long could be resolved with such a simple change.
I also apologize for making comments based on a misunderstanding of the issue.
Thanks again for your help!

WubTheCaptain Yes, as per the original text its mainly to remove a blocker to enable vrcvideocacher to provide this, but it will also fix fragmented hls audio in general for everyone which has been a long standing issue.
