THE SEMI-COMPLETE LIST OF USEFUL FEATURE SUGGESTIONS
ʙʟᴇᴀᴋ
I'll start with an introduction. I am Bleak and I host safe for work parties in the nightlife communities on vrchat. I have about 1500 hours and my account is from 2017. I am in 175+ vrchat discord servers. Being a host, this requires that I am in touch with many others and, upon consulting a lot of people in the last couple days, I'm compiling a list of mods that most of us deem necessary and features, not mod-related, that would be useful.
Attached are a list of necessary, non-malocious mods that my subcommunity of party-goers appreciate.
Player history: specifically for tracking bad seeds as soon as they are in a party. Also, returning to said world using world history features of the mod.
Anti-crash: controlling the amount of photons able to be viewed on screen. This is especially useful for avatar crashers which are, in my personal experience, far more devious and capable than other forms of crashing.
Audio modifications that allow for extended audio range to catch hate speech and the like.
Core limiter: aids in locking the game to specific core usage. Yes I know this is a feature on windows 10 via Task manager but not many people know that so the mod makes it accessible to a lot of individuals.
Portable mirror: Not particularly important in the world's I am in but everyone uses this to place localized mirrors down if world's have insufficient amounts of mirrors or in bad lighting areas. It's not uncommon for people to find a good spot and place both their mirrors down in a for a photoshoot.
Playerlist: allows for fps viewing of party goers to determine whether or not us hosts need to prepare a new instance based on world quality.
Text-to-speech mods: for mute patrons or particular people who don't want to use the microphone option (There are many, many 'mutes' in my community who require these functions).
Below is a list of features that are neither mods nor current vrchat features.
Optimization instancing: An instance owner would be able to actively select avatar optimization levels that all members will have to abide by within the instance.
Whitelisted mods: There is most likely a solution that will allow for specific dll files to be viewed as 'safe' and, although this could be a risk to the integrity of vrchat files, I would imagine that that risk is low on your end.
Deeper levels of trust: Extending the trust level system beyond trusted would be useful because trolls and children are now playing the game long enough to be instantly viewed as trustworthy when, by definition, they aren't and consistently violate ToS with their general presence.
Upon talking a little with Strasz in the VRChat discord, I was asked to compile a list from rave communities. I will be respecting the anonymity of rave communities. Here is a list of features that they would find useful in their subcommunity.
Map security. Some maps get pulled via the browser and ripped. A lot of creators password protect their maps but they would like to see more security in this avenue.
Instance owner moderation distribution: Be able to delegate ownership or moderation to particular whitelisted members in the instance. The idea behind this is that it adds wider security to the instance.
Camera animation features: The function of this is to have a camera be able to move and record for the videography or streaming.
Advanced avatar culling: Right now, the safety system is based on levels of trust/friendship and quality. Some communities spoke about avatar culling at a certain range or view. For example, avatars that are 25+ meters away cannot be seen or only avatars on your screen can be loaded and you have to be looking at them for a set duration.
Advanced audio device selection: By default, the VRChat client only allows for mic selection. There is a demand for audio output selection as well.
Join notifier: I actually forgot about this mod in my own compiled list above but this is useful as well. This makes it so people can see when troubled users join the instance. Also, you can tell when your friends join so you can greet them!
