Remove "ai-art" discord channel

From what I've seen, VRChat respects and celebrates its creators. Having the ai-art channel up goes against it. Generative image AI tech is built on unethical grounds and has no place on this platform in my opinion.
I find it extremely inappropriate VRChat would give a place for people to share and discuss a tech that actively is damaging actual artists by stealing their copyrighted works and benefiting from it, I'm not asking for a total ban just that VRChat stops giving it a thumbs up and keep being respectful to its userbase (Like when you banned NFT/crypto <3).

If that channel were closed, then AI generated images would have no place to be posted except in other channels intended for images that aren't generated by AI.
I would expect, at that point, the ask to be "please ban AI generated images from this Discord!" which isn't what we want to do, and is not feasible for us to enforce.
I would encourage you to mute the channel if you do not personally want to see it.
Finally, Feature Requests isn't for posts like this, although admittedly I'm unsure where this post
should
go.However, I
do
think the channel name "AI art" may be unnecessarily inflammatory so I have renamed the channel for accuracy to "ai-content".Anyhow, I'll be closing this request as we won't be acting on it.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: I seriously hope you're not saying VRChat is encouraging generative AI, because that's the vibes I'm getting from this. At least don't delve deeper into AI,
please
. If VRChat can't gracefully pull out, fine, just don't make things worse."Just don't look at it :D" isn't making things better when the issue is VRChat is actively encouraging people to post it.

Zarniwoop: You've misrepresented my post completely.
I am not encouraging it, I am providing a containment chamber. If no such chamber is provided, there is no way for people that do not want to see it (like you) to avoid it, as users would post to other media channels.
At that point, the only choice to prevent the images from being shown would be to ban them completely, which is not what I want to do and is simply not feasible.
There is no encouragement here, only organization and compartmentalization.
I apologize if this is insufficient for your needs. My initial goal was to implement the method that allows people who wish to employ tools like generative networks to make content to post it, and also to allow users who do not want to see it an easy way to avoid it by prompting the former group to put everything into one place.
As a side note, I also don't appreciate being depicted as aloof when I am doing my best to address a subject I take seriously without just saying "no, not allowed, get out" to a segment of users who want to post something otherwise totally permitted by all of our guidelines and rules.
If you can provide an alternate method that has more coverage for all use cases for
all
users -- not just one viewpoint -- I am all ears.D
