Profile Panel User Interface
Mysticporo
Greetings VRChat Community!
Today I would like to propose something I believe would benefit VRChat in a social way as many of you know there have been a lot of changes to VRChat during the time the game has been around, I would like to propose another of those as ambitious as it might be,
A UI Profile Panel, this would include a few new features as well as a refresh to the current UI. This refresh would include a variety of new features that I will go more in-depth on but to simplify them for now it would change the current cluttered horizontal tab selection to a vertical one, Add a Personalised Profile page for every player not just VRC+ users,
Within this Profile Page there would be Bio’s, Language Display, Profile Pictures or Avatar/Creator Thumbnails, what I like to call The World Map, A Display Avatar, Username Display, Online Status and finally a Very subtle compromise to Trust ranking.
Vertical Layout – With the Current updates VRChat has gotten the more tabs have been added this comes with a new issue, running out of room to place tabs making the UI a lot more condensed in size and increasing a more cluttered look to the UI.
I think that I have a solution to this which would be a Vertical Menu System placed to the right hand side, This would include all the featured tabs currently available in-game and leave room for many more tabs in the future.
If a situation arises that more tabs to be added this Vertical Menu will be able to adjust and allow for more natural vertical scrolling rather than an awkward horizontal scroll whilst maintaining the tabs original size.
Profile pictures, Avatar/Creator Thumbnails – With the new update to VRChat users who have VRC+ are able to apply a Profile Picture to their Nametag however there doesn’t seem to be much else than that with the Profile Page users will be able to display their Profile pictures front and centre meaning its not just relegated to their Nametag
For those who don’t have VRC+ I’d like to propose a compromise since people who upload or use Custom avatars made from others or by themselves which is what I’m calling “Avatar/Creator Thumbnails” these would show up on your profile like they do in the current Avatar Selection screen this allows creators who make public avatars will get recognition and those who make their own avatars get a simplified version of a profile picture rather than a custom one meaning it would be inclusive to all.
Username Display – As the title suggests this would simply be a place where your username would show up, this would be a simple feature but a necessity for a Profile Page!
The World Map – Alright! So what is The World Map huh? This might be a bit divisive but I’ve thought of how to go about it without it being a problem, as many of you know VRChat is a very diverse place full of many people from all over the place, it’s only natural the question be asked at some point “so where are you from?”
The World Map would solve this if a User is comfortable they could show their general Geographical location by Country or State, if the User isn’t comfortable with this system the User may chose to remain Unknown/Anonymous and the map will remain a solid blue hue,
However if the User is comfortable to share their Geographical Country or State the place they choose as their location will light up Yellow to coordinate with VRChats friend yellow and blue core theme of its UI,
This comes with many befits such as understanding what time it is for a certain player and to be able to coordinate a date and time in which to meet online without missing each other, to clarify this map would remain behind the Display Avatar as personally I believe the Display Avatar takes priority.
(For a little bit of insight of my process of this concept I first decided on a Globe that would rotate 360 degree’s behind the Display Avatar but I soon found out it didn’t really fit or the avatar would get in the way, I tried placing a Globe somewhere along the left or right side of the display avatar but it just didn’t look right)
Avatar Display – It does what it says on the tin!
But seriously though what is a Display Avatar? Well, many people in VRChat have uploaded their Own Avatars, Take pride in a specific Avatar or have an Avatar that they use the most a “Main Avatar" you might say and some use random avatars on a regular basis,
With a Display Avatar you can choose to Display one Avatar for your Profile Page, this is to help people either recognise who you usually are or to just show off your talent as a creator,
Since this is similar concept as the 360 Rotating Avatar in the Avatar Selection section a 360 Rotation mode could be included fairly easily but I believe a Front view would suffice for many.
Bio’s - Bio’s! so Bio’s are available on VRChats social website but they aren’t currently available to my knowledge in VRChat itself and a Profile Page is the perfect place for them!
you can use them for showing what you’re about, who you are, what you stand for, what you like or even just what yyou want to say about yourself if your up for it, it doesn’t have to special just you!
Language Display - Again its fairly self-explanatory, you would be able to display what languages you speak but even better for those Users who are Deaf you’ll be able to display what Sign Language you use and for those who are mute players I’d like to see a mute Language option available!
There’s also the fact that some people are dyslexic so maybe that might be a good idea to implement that as another option, I’m aware there are probably a lot more niche Languages that should be available feel free to add them as a comment below!
That about it for Languages!
The Trust Ranking Compromise - Trust Ranking and the Colours associated with them have been a heavily debated subject for some time now some have liked the system, some have hated it, some think by removing it would ruin the hard work they put in to their social setting and some simply don’t care.
I believe a compromise is in order!
Within the Profile Page right next to the Users online status I think a placing the Users trust Rank and Colour would suffice, it’s out of the way so people won’t easily be bothered by it but it still remains allowing for the people who have put hard work into the game not to be upset by the chance it would be removed, while I could explain this more I believe this is up to the Dev Team in the end.
(Side Note)
Media Section – I’ve talked to a few people in VRChat for what they would like to see, many of them have either suggested a place where you can link your account to other Socials or Simply have a Social system like Direct Messages or a Public Feed this might also be a heavily debated subject and this is only a suggestion from the people I have personally talked to so I’m aware that many might disagree to this idea.
I’ve left some reference images of what this might look like below but I’m not great at sharing my concepts visually, Feel free to make your own Profile Pages!
(In Light of the New UI) it’s come to my attention that a few images of VRChats new UI looks a lot different so I’ve redesigned the layout in the fourth picture to show what the bare bones layout might look like if it went with that UI please ignore the colour Scheme,
Despite that it should transfer quite well though Moving the Display Avatar to the right including the Change Location & Display Avatar button while centring The World Map.
Finally that’s it, People of VRChat I hope you enjoyed the read I’ve written a lot more than expected but I’m really hoping for a positive reception, I hope you like my contribution!

Solid post. Love the idea of the world map and or just the benefits of both having that rough location and timezone would really help. Perhaps locked to friends only as an option.
The bio, media and language should all be coming in the next UI based on the teases they have shown as it looks exactly like what the website offers.
Skimming the rest I’m indifferent. Your suggestions seem logical although the layout would of course need to be tested to work well in both desktop and vr. The current vrc UI tease has the profile much slimmer.
