Battlefield has the option to pay the platform holders to host your own custom server with custom network settings, Ability to change maps, and other. For a monthly fee
VRChat would very much take advantage of this Subscription service to offset server costs to event hosts and players. 80+ player events are not cheap. Giving event Hosts the ability to pay for a premium server will be a net positive.
Features Provided:
  • Pass the 80 Player limit
  • Ability to force restart the instance or move to force move to another World
  • Higher Update Rate options (if you have a smaller player cap)
UPDATE: 07/14/2024
This is known to be possible, Furality had 300 players per instance. The player count doesn't need to be that high but the system exists and can be downscaled to be economical.
Lets assume VRChat does something similar where Groups can have Server boosts, that can work as a system where you already have an organized group structure with moderators and members. A "VRC+" (Groups+ if you will) like option for groups would be a good way to implement it without having to make a new system from scratch.
You could also add tiers to it to scale with the player budget and make a premium
$10 a month value option
$40-50 next tier
$100+ for etc
This would be a good supplementary income to the creator economy as a recuring revenue service. Much like how players can already gift VRC+, the same could be done with "Group+". Much like how discord users Nitro boost a server, players can boost a Group
