Options for VRC World Portals to Inherit Current Instance Type
DarkSwordsman
When making worlds that use Portal pedestals, allow an option to "Inherit Instance Type".
Personally, I don't like going through portal pedestals because they're Public. However, if I was able to go into whatever type I want, I would be much more open to doing so.
So for example: If I join an instance I created, the portals in that world would inherit that type. So if it was Invite+, the portal would be Invite+ and the instance creator would (probably?) be me.
Also, in the case of Group+ or GroupPublic, world portals could
possibly
create a group instance as well. Though, this would probably want to be configurable per-group, incase they don't want new instances to be made due to moderation. This has some benefits:
- The World creator doesn't have to arbitrarily decide what instance type the portal should be (assuming we were given the option, like this feature request).
- The user can define the portal type by whatever instance they're in, which means it's likely an instance type they are more comfortable with.
- Because of 2, worlds that may actually be a series of portals (like the PS Home reuploads) could leverage portals even more to improve performance/separation of concerns.
- This feature could also include the client option to pre-load those portal worlds when they join. This would allow experiences that cross multiple worlds to be more seamless (especially with the recent loading improvements that were done).

Exactly what is needed, it's really weird to me that portals always seem to lead to a public instance instead of the instance type of the current instance.
Only thing I would add is that the portal should also inherit region as well. Current behaviour also sets region to USA which is not ideal if I get better ping to a JP region instance.
I'd say limiting to one portal marker with inheritance enabled in the world would be more than sufficient in my use case if there is some sort of infrastructure concern.
