Option to turn off "Featured" events from calendar

Calendar is being spammed with massive amounts of "Featured" events making it annoying to use. I never added such events, I don't wanna see them.
Having an option setting to hide all such "featured" events from my own calendar so that they no longer show until I turn the setting back on again would be welcome.
The filter setting in calendar view is not enough because the filter is not remembered. Also there's no way to hide "Featured" events from the "Your Events" view in the homepage.

+1, what's the point of these featured group events when it's just the birthday of some guy that doesn't speak any languages I speak? Why does this have to be above my friend's instances on the website? This was a genuinely useful feature up until "Featured" groups were forcibly added to the calendar.

I tried blocking one of these groups, their events still pop up.

This is forcing questionable events into my calendar by default. I'm not part of any of these groups, nor do I want to see them as I have no interest. Seriously... wtf is getting featured!?
