With the "automatic invites" feature, we seriously need the ability to make the group "open invite" with the "18+ age verified only" toggle available.

What problem is this trying to address? Automatic assignment of roles/permissions based on age verification? The lack of a role permission to enforce Age Gated group instances only?
Groups can create roles with permissions, e.g. restrict member access to creating or joining instances. Group post visibility can be limited to certain roles.
As a group owner, if someone wants to join my private group by invite, the new member can be assigned a role to allow reading the group posts, subscribe to events notifications and learn more about the group without discrimination to age or verification status, but they can't create or join Age Gated instances if and until the member is verified 18+. The door to join the Age Gated instances stays open for the member once they get verified.
There's also the plausibility that a member can lose their Verified 18+ status after requesting personal data deletion from VRChat, a member could choose to hide it in their profile (but still join 18+ Verified instances), or other reasons, so the roles / permissions system is more flexible than checking it once at the time of joining.

Additionally, VRChat 2026.1.1 patch notes state Group Automatic Invites may be sent out to users who spend a long enough period of time in that group's instances. If all your group instances are Age Gated, and OP has a desire to have "18+ age verified only" for membership, but you can only be automatically invited by being Age Gated (18+ Verified) instances in this case, what problem is this trying to solve?

WubTheCaptain This is about adult groups not being able to utilize the automatic invite feature since it requires the group to be in in the open join state. most adult groups opt to use the request join state to keep unverified users from joining.

It'd also be great if this was forced for NSFW groups, since those are being allowed anyway these days.

some groups like to only have age verified members in their group so they don't have their join state set to open, but if there was an option to be open to only age verified people that would be pretty epic!!
