Thank you for listening to this feedback and removing boops!
KaiKaroo
Boops is an api feature right? If it's too hard to implement a toggle for in the client which is default off, wouldn't it be able to add that feature to the website and have the default turned of toggle in there in an experimental features section, for example?
DarkSwordsman
It appears in the beta, they have added a way to disable boops, so it seems like this will be resolved soon.

I invite everyone that disagrees with this disruptive feature to add #NoBoops tag to their profile or status.

As someone who struggles with concentrating, but still tries their hardest to focus when talking with others, a distracting alert is the antithesis of what I need nor want.
For a less personal point of view: an increasing amount of studies are showing that interruptive alerts on social media cause an increase in anxiety hormones, ultimately motivating users to abandon said platforms. This function is likely going to cause the same issue and lead to less clientele.
Given these points, please include a function to turn off this new UI element.

This feature can be great without an option to turn off ONLY, IF THEY MADE A messaging system and the emojis will be at the DM. (On the menu) Just like Steam has it with the cool effects you can buy for points.

That's the only thing we got, that is somewhat closer to a full messaging system. What a disappointment honestly. Who asked for that? That is so stupid. Imagine having a very serious conversation with someone, and out of nowhere there are a lot of weird emojis popping out of you. That is insane. The most useless, idiotic and worthless feature can't be turned off? What?!

As someone on the spectrum, I despise this. Though, I also don't expect a resolution due to general unpleasantness I've received from the team trying to bring issues to attention and how they can impact users other than me.
Please give me a pleasant surprise for once.

I'm generally not a negative person when it comes to new features or system,
but I really can't emphasize really how much I don't enjoy getting a message that just says "hi" or "boob".
There's no point to the message, it's honestly just ....spam, kinda like calling someone , letting it ring once and hanging up. so you don't kn ow what the intent was.
Hearing that I can't turn this off surprises me, I hope that part is at least reconsidered.
