Mute Invite/Request Notifications from Specific Users
DoritosDontacos
I am writing to request the implementation of a feature that would allow users to mute invite and request notifications from specific individuals, as a solution to the serious issue of "invite/request spam" that is currently affecting the VRChat community.
●Current Problems
1.Widespread Spam Behavior
・Certain users are repeatedly sending excessive invites and requests to the same person, engaging in spam-like behavior
・This has evolved into a form of stalking, combining activity monitoring with spam attacks
2.Disproportionate Impact on Female Users
・Female users are particularly targeted by this harassment, suffering psychological distress from persistent invite attacks
・Some users have quit VRChat entirely due to this issue
3.Limitations of Existing Features
・Unfriending or blocking users can disrupt community event management and participation
・Event organizers and community leaders often cannot fully block problematic users without affecting their community responsibilities
●Requested Feature
Per-user settings to individually mute/unmute invite and request notifications
Ability to block notifications from specific users while maintaining the friend relationship
Flexible settings that can be adjusted as needed
This feature is essential for protecting users' psychological safety while maintaining healthy community relationships. We strongly hope you will consider implementing this improvement.

DoritosDontacos Can you please share the LLM prompt you've used for the OP text?
Blocking an user already mutes this spam. Streamer mode auto-rejects friend requests. Being on red "Do Not Disturb" status mutes notifications.
I wouldn't mind a separate "mute notifications" feature per individual user (even if it is possibly antithetical to a social platform made specifically for
chatting
), but perhaps the root cause here is not choosing friendships carefully, not setting boundaries with friends/people, and/or not utilizing blocking effectively.DoritosDontacos

I know the “Do Not Disturb” feature can achieve this, but some feel it requires being in “Do Not Disturb”
all the time
.Also, there seems to be a tendency to value community bonds, making blocking a last resort.
I fully understand the need to choose friends carefully. But it's also true that during the visitor phase, people tend to add friends without much thought just to unlock features like avatar uploads.
I thought a low-aggression spam defense feature might be beneficial.
Since my English writing isn't strong, I described the requirements and had an LLM translate them. Sorry if there are any issues. This is also using a translation tool.
