Loading Screen is embarrassing
Sombie
the first thing i do when i log on to vrchat for the first time this week after vacation is see a loading screen change. and the first thing on there? a screen telling me how i can get banned. are you kidding me? what kind of game does this look like when the first thing new users see is a screen threatening them with a ban. mods already run rampant in this game banning whoever the hell they want anyway. how do you expect to keep players if all you do is threaten to ban them before they can even get into their first world.

Im doing a Mega Canny with all the people request make sure to vote this compilation of Ideas and maybe we are lucky after all this time
Mr Ru
The game has had a history of people joining for the sole purpose of griefing and harassing others. Anything from people taking the Knunkles meme too far to making shaders that mess with people's vision or crash them.
So yes, admins are going to put up "threats" that doing that stuff will get you banned. That's a total non-issue if you don't do any of that.
Sombie
Mr Ru: safety system is in place, no need for 4 slides on how doing anything that is literally against the rules in any video game will get you banned. just ban them. its in the tos.
Mr Ru
Sombie: This is about warning new users, sometimes children, what is considered bad or dangerous behaviour and warning them of the consciences for doing them. Just saying "it's in the tos" just sounds like you're some lawyer trying to trip people up with small print.
Really though. WHY are you making such a big deal about it. Warnings like that are everywhere online and off for various reasons. Taking them as a personal attack is just silly.
AAMBIENTT
A threat? Really? Every game will do almost the exact same thing, whether it's a social app or game, it'll say it during loading g or in the TOS. I think that the loading screen is a huge improvement. The subtle hints and references of old movies and games are nice. VRChat is, in my eyes, my alter ego. So seeing these to me is like seeing a sight telling me the speed limit. There is not much of a difference.
Nightcore Soul
I agree with removing them or just replacing with more things like be good to each other or w/e
Also if they did enforce poly count hardcore i feel like most ava worlds would be removed and a large chunk of creators banned tho it would be funny seeing a game die over night
Sombie
Nightcore Soul: agreed. most avatar worlds have over 20k poly. i have seen 1 week bans for modded sdk, and that is what the mods do because someone is mean to them. also people being banned for ban evasion without ban evading. creating rule breakers because they are unfairly removed from the game.
Nightcore Soul
Sombie: i have seen people accou ts getting hit with ban evasions on the account they play on all day and some times they change it if confronted to some other bs
In the past they would make up bs rules all the time like no pepe now they dont give a fk
Pan Diman
Nightcore Soul: Pepe is still not allowed.
AAMBIENTT
Nightcore Soul: pepe is a banned meme because it represents hate speech. Something that is not welcomed in the VRChat community.
SunflowerTwix
Never have I been so concerned with breaking a game's ToS'.
>you'll get banned if you do this (modded sdk to bypass poly count);
>>everybody does this
>>>leaks of mod avatars have this
>>>>featured avatar world avatars have this
>>>>>vrchat has this
>>>>>>this is real
Sombie, you've got my +Vote 1
Darksunrise
SunflowerTwix: Just because a lot of people do it doesn't mean it's not against the rules/ToS, and therefore a bannable offense. Similarly to how lots of people pirate movies; does that suddenly make it legal?
SunflowerTwix
Darksunrise: What are you talking about, sunshine? Re-read what I wrote. Why are people always misconstruing the comments I'm leaving here? Modifying the SDK is against the rules. It's against the ToS for VRChat.
What do you think I'm trying to say? Fuck, man. I never said for it to be allowed. I said that everyone does it, yes, but I never said it makes it okay. I was endorsing my point of how much of a problem it is.
Darksunrise
SunflowerTwix: I'm sorry I misunderstood your comment. It just seems that the structure of it makes it seem very sarcastic. You point out that you are concerned about breaking ToS, then go on to point out that everyone seems to do it, and no one is punished. That makes your first line seem sarcastic. Then you say "+1 vote" to the suggestion to remove the warning from the loading screen. I didn't mean anything bad by my comment, I was just trying to validate WHY the rule shouldn't be removed from the loading screen, even if people feel that it shouldn't be a rule in the first place (which isn't really an argument for here or now, anyway).
Tykesha
I don't really believe mods "run rampant". I like the message that says something about being excellent to everyone.
AAMBIENTT
Tykesha: Bill and Ted Reference :D
Pan Diman
It's not a threat, it's a message explaining the rules a lot of people are unaware of because they think VRChat is "another Second Life".
Sombie
Pan Diman: its a threat. i have never played a game where you are threatened with the rules that are already outlined in the TOS. there are easier ways to go over the rules without sounding like im going to get banned if i interact with anyone
Pan Diman
Sombie: The problem is, nobody reads the ToS, except paralegals and those who are extremely paranoid about their experience in VRChat. Also, mods never just ban whomever they want for no reason, but people send dozens if not hundreds of reports every single day, and devs can't hire a bigger team, so they can't possibly handle all the violations and focus on doing something different for once. These messages on the loading screen aren't targeted at anyone specifically, because they have to remind everyone, including new players, what they shouldn't be doing.
Kaj
Additionally, can we not have the "Do good, die great" quote on the loading screen? It seems slightly morbid and extremely out of place.
Pan Diman
Kaj: I hope you know the reference.
Neitri
Pretty much all I saw was "die" on a loading screen.... I didn't know the reference and found it disgusting.
Now, after seeing the video I dont mind it anymore and find it cute.
Either way I think it's bad idea to show everyone something that essentially tells them to "die".
Maybe next time imagine it in voice of someone you don't like.
AAMBIENTT
Neitri: if you think VRChat is telling you to die, I think you best get off.
