With the discontinuation of VRChat on the Quest 1 and the introduction of the more powerful Quest 3 (and even IOS devices), I feel now is the right time to reconsider giving more flexibility to the current limitations for building mobile content.
As shown in Meta's own documentation for building applications, performance on the Quest 2 and 3 far exceeds what was possible on last generation hardware, so allowing users more leeway with certain elements like download size, geometric/texture complexity, and amount of assets show wouldn't be too much for the newer headsets to handle (theoretically speaking).
Of course, users creating content with these looser restrictions should still keep in mind and educate themselves about proper optimization techniques to avoid poor performance Avatars and Worlds.
"Just because you have a full tank of gas, doesn't mean you should always go full throttle."
I hope the VRC development team will consider this in a future update, much love.
