Polycounts ranks limits have not changed for years on PC,
and jumping directly from medium to verypoor if you're >70k tris doesn't make sense.
Please update the limits and make them proportional to the ranks,
for example I'd suggest:
<90k : medium
<110k : poor
>110k : very poor
In the past 5 years graphic cards have increased their performance and VRAM a lot.
Keeping that archaïc limit is quite bad also for VRChat, as better refined avatars would also allow to show how much it has improved and grown in these years (also time to get SteamVR VRChat out of early access maybe ? ;) )
Now it doesn't necessarily need to be a big increase, but it was already suggested in
2021
to increase to > 100k tris for very poor..
We are in 2025, and we still are at 70k limits..
Most nicely detailled avatars comes with 90k tris nowadays, having to decimate them is a pain and generate mesh bugs..
I'd also like to see real benchmarks and stats with modern graphic cards, to measure the real impact of #polys vs performance/fps. Not a random limit set in marble like that for years.
Cards nowadays can manipulate many more polys without issues imho.
Also as an extra suggestion:
Track also the number of blendshapes / vertices they are controlling.
Currently a model that is < 70k tris could have 500 blenshapes impacting thousands of vertices.. making it perform worse than a very poor model, and rendering that 70k limit even more useless ...
