Icon to tell you player does not see your model
Yin
Maybe like an eye with a cross icon or something, it would appear next to their nameplate like the mute icon. This would let you know the person you're looking at doesn't see your avatar, either due to not finished loading, or they've turned off avatars. That way I don't look like an idiot trying to show off a gesture animation and all they see is a robot thing flailing it's arms. Or in the case of switching avatars, I'll know when I am safe to use my animations again so we don't desync.

how can this be open for 6 years? It's badly needed to make people want to optimize themself

Vesturo Theres other side of the coin you need to keep in mind, it may induce more unnessery drama same us mute and blcoking does, for something more trivial in some cases automatic.
LoppyDaCutie
maybe like a icon human shape with a red slant cross on it next to the nameplate... that would be easy

My connection speed is slow (max 10Mbps), so I often have sad incidents where the other person is stroking me or showing me a gimmick, but I can't see it because it is loading
It would be a great help if this feature is implemented

Ensuring this has an accurate status -- this issue was previously tracked, but is not tracked at this time.
This does not mean that this is any less or more likely to be implemented
, it means this feedback item doesn't have a matching internal issue right now.Skrooz
Huge agree to this one. It feels more topical than ever with apparent focuses to avatar optimization from the team. Good timing, that's all.

Nah. Because as the twitter thread posted that spawned this elitist thinking, this is an attempt to harass people and shame them into making avatars in spec to serve the laziness of people not wanting to turn an avatar on or djs that are getting miffed because without VP included, not enough people are showing up to their shows.
If you are talking to someone and they havent turned your avatar on as you go to show your "cool gesture", they very likely did not want to see your "cool gesture"

Yeah, this would be really helpful feedback to have from a singular user perspective. I usually roll with super high safety settings, and perhaps a lot of other people do as well.
It could also be a slow play game changer in the long run. If people had this indication that they were just appearing as a robot to others, it might gradually entice users to roll with good or excellent avatars so that they would for sure be seen by everyone (which would raise avg perf of the game as a whole).
You could even gamify this as a kind of stat level.. with like a power meter/bar icon that lives on your current avatar stats quick window that shows the percentage of users in the current instance that can see your avatar (and perhaps there are even other percentage bars for the other safety features like audio, animations, etc)
Please excuse my napkin drawing of the above ^ idea

I see that data point causing a lot of extra lag unless it's limited to avatars you've loaded but I still think it's a great idea.

I need this now

Hopefully this would encourage users to wear more optimized avatars.
However, similarly to muting people, a lot of them get annoyed when they realize they are muted by others by showing the muted icon. I fear these same users could bully others into showing their avatars.
kawashirov
bully them back to wear excellent crossplatform avatar 🤣🤣🤣
