Groups are not used for Groups - Separate Groups and Banners.

Currently, it's a bit hard to differentiate real "Community Groups" from "Groups that were just made for a Funny Banner".
I believe it wasn't intended for groups to turn into a banner distribution system, and rather be a way for players to find other players and communities.
So, the banner system should simply be separated from groups, with groups being able to designate an obtainable Group Banner that people can add to their list of banners.
And then, banners could simply work like our profile picture does. A way to express ourselves or our favorite group.
With this separation, REAL groups can be more focused on being actual communities.
----
Another way to think of this is in recognition that some groups are also used as sort of self-tags for things players are interested in, but not to the extent of these things being communities people are really trying to participate in.
This gives us three popular features of groups:
- Banners
- A way to tag our own interests
- Actual communities or groups trying to bring players together
I think communities specifically could use a special group category to differentiate from the first two kinds of groups, similar to how Discord is introducing Guilds or how Discord has Community Server options for Discord servers with specific kinds of activity.
My community for example, is trying to be an actual community that creates content on vrchat to distribute to players, rather than just being a funny banner or a just me being in a Kirby group because I like Kirby.
So it's a real "Community Group".
Player's Friend Groups may also be a common usage as is often done with Discord servers.
