Give Portals the Ability to Set a Destination Spawn Location

To help promote a more interconnected world it would be great if portals could carry a variable that will be used in the destination room to select where the user will spawn.
Example:
A street with multiple buildings with portals leading to other rooms that contain the interiors of those buildings.
When exiting those rooms to come back to the street, it would be ideal if you were spawning not at a default spawn, but actually in front of the representation of the building you were just in.
---
I think something like this is fundamental for building an interconnected metaverse that is something you can traverse and explore more naturally.
A list of rooms does not provide the same sense of exploration/discovery.

That needs to be added. Had it as a mod and i fucking miss it.

Adding this for player dropped portals would be nice too, allowing us to input XYZ value of a location.

YES, PLEASE?

"drop portal" change to "take portal station" then you throw it somewhere and it will deploy

Hey. It's been a while but after 5.6 we'll look into this again. I realize it has issues but it's a good suggestion.

Ron Millar (CCO and Design) : Any further movement on this idea?

I would love this idea because I've had lots of ideas for making things but then I remembered you can't do this. I would love if you could.
I don't know much about the coding stuff but I imagine it could be as easy as letting us set a world id on a spawn point and anyone who spawns from that id will spawn there?

Mimi: Imagine two rooms that have similar long paths on them. In Room A on one end, you have a portal linking to Room B at the corresponding end. At the other ends of Room A and B you have another set of linking portals. With the approach you have outlined, this would not be possible.
I really think setting a destination spawn point ID on a portal would be the best, simplest, and most flexible approach for interconnected world building.

Spawn points should be portals themselves. So you appear near the door "back". But this could lead to a proliferation of portals when people come in from many places. Maybe the spawn could be a "local" door back to where you came, that disappears after a bit.

hackspanner: Yeah, this would cause a lot of proliferation. And I think it is a separate situation/issue than what I outlined here.
"Spawn points should be portals themselves." Makes me think that maybe the elegant solution is to just link two portals. But that leaves out the ability to have a portal send you to a specific spot and
not
have a portal nearby to return. I believe just being able to set a destination spawn location and allowing content creators to decide how/if the return will work is a better solution.
There are also situations where a creator is not using the big blue VRC Portal to send someone to the next room. So forcing the use of the portal would be a regression in the currently available flexibility. (Scripts that teleport you onto a hidden portal)
Having to wait for a portal behind me to despawn so I can navigate past it in some situations would be a bummer too.
To be totally clear this request is purely for connecting worlds in a logical manner and has nothing to do with just generically joining the world.

That's a really great idea and we will look to add
