Find an Age Verification Provider Not Linked to Palantir
Flufflestuff
Persona is in fact, linked to Palantir.
This is the same controversy discord is having currently with it's verification.
Persona is currently in several disputes regarding maintaining user data longer than it's privacy clause dictates due to said involvement with palantir.
Palantir is pushing for a surveillance state that puts minority groups at risk.
Palantir Is not something VRC should want to be associated with.

Yeah, uhhh. Don't like Palantir. For the obvious reasons stated by everyone else. I'm cancelling my vrc+ because of this.

I already had the unfortunate situation of verifying because the research I did at the time showed persona had trustworthy privacy policies, it seems they do not. You should be auditing your contractors and have your own privacy policy you should make sure is not going to be fed into the US surveillance state apparatus. I think I'm gonna cancel my VRC+ over this.

I won't be attending Furality (who has decided to require age verification) until VRChat uses an age verification vendor NOT linked to the US surveillance industry.

I went ahead last year and tested the age verification as a beta feature. I’ve definitely been feeling a bit of “oh f*ck” syndrome since the Discord stuff and what has been becoming more widely known about Persona since then. I mostly did it since I trusted the VRC staff so much and wanted to help out my favorite social platform by beta testing it, I didn’t think Persona would turn out to be this bad. I wish I never did it and at this point I wish I could take my decision last year back.

I've been considering getting age verified on VRC for a bit now, but I recently learned that the 3rd party they used is linked to Palantir which, in view of the recent events, makes me feel uncomfortable to do so.
I don't feel like my data would be safe with this third party, and I don't want to continue considering getting age verified until VRChat finds an alternative.
I support this feedback

I used to support and defend the measure on social media until I found out that Persona belongs to Palantir and Peter Thiel
This is so messed up, that information will be used against U.S. citizens by anti-immigration services, they have done this before with other platforms and services related to the Palantir group
They should look for an identity authentication service based in a European country, there the rules and regulations regarding privacy are much stricter

I second this since it seems sketchy,
But fundamentally, I don't want current style of Age verification on VRChat, since I think the whole Age verification stuff doesn't suite for safety purpose.

Also throwing out the idea to maybe just store an "isAdult" flag, rather than storing PPI (like exact birth date) on the database of a social platform with a semi-public API.

I'd say people should refuse to use that age verification system outright. It's not safe
