Bring (back) HUD Smoothing and Mic Outline to Desktop for OLED Monitors
Venclaire
HUD smoothing and mic outlines were added to VRChat for OLED headsets like the Beyond. It used to available for desktop as well either as a bug or a feature, but recently in an update it was removed, probably unintentionally.
I use an OLED Monitor and I loved HUD smoothing. I have all the other OLED-burn in prevention features enabled both on my monitor and VRChat that would allow, but HUD smoothing was my favorite one. It still works on VR, but it used to work on Desktop as well, and there is no way to turn it on for Desktop. Pixel shifting microphone is another feature that would be nice to have on Desktop.
It would be really nice to have this back on Desktop as HUD smoothing is one of my favorite features in games. It helps a lot with getting rid of my burn-in paranoia on my OLED monitor.
If these settings are available on desktop and I'm just missing them, please let me know. I haven't been able to find them.

With the help of a friend, I figured out how to re-enable these settings.
- Open up Regedit
- Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VRChat\VRChat
- Look for:
- VRC_HUD_SMOOTHING_Desktop_h2589019796
- VRC_USE_OUTLINE_MIC_ICON_h3135516813
- Double click, set the hexadecimal value to 1
I really am praying these features come back to the settings menu as I don't understand why they were removed :(

Steps are basically the exact same on Linux, at least CachyOS.
- Go to Steam/steamapps/compatdata/438100/pfx/drive_c/windows/
- Open regedit.exe
- Follow instructions in the replied post
