Being Banned Without Warning Is Really Unfair
himanano
My world was banned, but why does that also come with a three-day user ban without any prior warning?
Simply removing a world and banning the user without explaining the reason makes it look like negligence on the staff’s part.
I have also heard that decisions are made based only on the contents of reports, but are these cases really being reviewed properly?
At the very least, I think there should be a warning first.
Are world creators expected to accept the risk of being banned just for creating worlds? There may be updates for other worlds, events to host, or events to attend, and preventing all of that feels like an excessive burden being placed on players.
If this situation does not improve, then as a creator, I will hesitate to continue making content at all.

I do not agree with the remove the world and ban the creator for a few days approach.
I would instead like to see:
* The world get set to private or unsearchable
* A detailed email explaining why VRC took this action, and how to fix it
* Then be given a chance to make it public again or appeal the decision.
Despite the world having appropriate content tags, they are still getting removed without warning and again, the creator being punished for it. So what's the point of the tags then? The worlds follow TOS the best it can, which is why I'm suggesting an explanation of
what
exactly broke TOS so we can fix and prevent further issues. This would possibly not be an option due to potential loopholes that people find, but if we don't know what exactly is breaking TOS, how can we fix it? At that point we might as well not make worlds and instead take our talents elsewhere.
RiverOceano
they can't fix it, it's in there vrchat tos 13.3

They tell you the world and the violation, but I agree with an actual exactly what to remove under a true review. But vrchat might have to keep it clean for emails cause shareholders.

Let me make some practical suggestions instead of emotion-first complain:
I think the appropriate flow is instead of striking ban hammers to users without prior warning, should implementing a "quarantine" flag (soft takedown) for non appropriate contents, temporary prevents other users from accessing them (except for the moderation team), along side with notes on what element is violating which rules and correction suggestions.
This flag is different from "non public" as the later one third parties can still accessed via links, and will persists until the creator fixes the issue and get approved after they asks for review/appeal.
Additionally, I would also suggests temporary restrictions on uploading other contents if there are any contents under quarantine, which can prevents malicious actors doing something really harmful, or bypassing the qurantine.
Again I feels how unhealthy to the community if the red line is unclear, especially it seems not aligned to the PRs from officials, mentioning the promises to protecting both user contents and safety.

Why are world creators banned even when they honestly and explicitly tag the content they include?
VRChat moderators only follow users who enjoy reporting worlds (malicious users who want to burn books).
Since there is a tagging function, it should be the default setting to exclude those worlds from searches, and only those who wish to be able to remove the search exclusion.
If that search setting is already implemented, it should be the job of VRChat moderators and public relations staff to make it known to users who unknowingly enter such worlds and then report harm.
“Private things keep private.” Why should even people who follow and practice this rule be banned?

I may be misunderstanding the situation, so please treat this only as a concern rather than a claim.
If missing or incorrect Content Warnings are currently being treated as a serious factor in moderation actions, I hope VRChat can take into account that the Content Warning system did not exist before 2023.
Some creators may have uploaded worlds or avatars before that system was introduced, and many may not realize that these warnings can now be configured from the website as well as through the SDK.
If creators are given a clear warning or notice first, I believe many of them would be able to correct the issue voluntarily. I would appreciate it if older content, especially content uploaded before the Content Warning system existed, could be handled with that context in mind before applying severe enforcement.

wata23 I understand what you mean.
But I need to add some extra context for you: the current official banning measures seem to ignore all the Content Warning tags that creators have already applied to their content.
A lot of content had already been assigned the relevant Content Warning labels, but it was still banned due to reports.
wata23
Crescent_Evil Thank you for the additional context. I was not aware that some worlds which already had appropriate Content Warning labels applied had still been banned.
If those worlds were otherwise compliant with VRChat’s guidelines and Terms of Service, then I think your concern is completely valid.
I think these are two separate issues: content that violates the rules, which should be removed regardless of whether it has Content Warning labels, and content that is otherwise allowed but may be missing proper labels. My concern is mainly about the latter.
My comment was mainly meant as a request that creators not be severely penalized solely because older content is missing Content Warning labels, especially if the content itself is within what VRChat allows.

i've been noticing this a lot. they're either having an automatic scan, automated taste police or it is peple abusing the repot function... or staff playing taste police.
there is no human review. there is a war in ba sing sae
the staff... with what they are. and the troubles of this platform. should have better review... but they wont'

I was recently hit with a 3-day account suspension. The world in question was unpublished (private). If even unpublished worlds are subject to suspension, there is absolutely no way for creators to protect themselves. This is especially true because a world creator has no system capability to close or terminate an instance that has been spun up by another user.
DeadManParty
あずさazusa it's funny because the vrchat staff are... well arethey even involved?
Crescent_Evil
あずさazusa According to the ToS, reports on private content are handled the same way as public content.

Regardless of the content itself, I do think it’s VRC’s fault that they haven’t improved certain aspects of the system—such as meaningless world tags that don’t require age verification to enter, or banning entire users without warning.
Cra_DOLL
I agree too.
This means you(VRChat officials) must ban yourself if someone has commit report that "Someone has doing sexual play in VRChat Defalut Login World and they were using official ITEMs".
Otherwise, its very unfair.
And also, please notice that many troll & annoying players who has been kicked or blocked, often report worlds and players for his vengence.
At least, kicked player shouldn't be able to report the world they have been kicked.
Blocked player shouldn't be able to report the player who blocked him/her.
TRUSTED RANK and proper PLAYED TIME is needed to report, or may be weight of that report is depend on those.
