Anti-hack

Kitty Kat
something that runs when the game opens to block any hacked clients. hacked clients are becoming a major issue. Im tired of my avatar getting stolen and not feeling safe in public worlds.

Thank you for the suggestion! VRChat implemented anti-cheat a few years ago.

I think the best solution to this is to integrate some of the common non-malicious features of popular VRLoader modules into the game. A lot of my friends use it only for the non-malicious features. An anti-cheat would be difficult to implement since VRC seems to be so easy to modify. Injectors will be hard to stop since they can inject code from DLL files that could be placed anywhere on your hard drive. I'm not too keen on VRC scanning the contents of my entire hard drive.
Here is a list of features I've heard of from various friends about VRLoader that I think belong in the game:
-Flight (maybe if people get too butthurt about people flying around in maps they shouldn't, make it a per-world thing. We already got flying avatars so I don't see how much will change.)
-Unlimited favorites
-Personal avatar list optimizations (search, categorization, etc)
-Improved safety settings, shader blacklist, shader logger (to get names for blacklist)
-Teleport to player (but make it a request instead of forced)
-Cloning set to on or off for individual public avatars

Anti-Cheat idea

Use the programm Hash (<-- hope call right) or the programms/dll's with code that not beable to edit and whitelist them all other programms/dll's will be blocked then and a injector like VRLoader is useless and put something in the connection of the server and game thats request all these ellements and if something not right it report the hwid and can get banned for hacking or client using (still same)

A whitelist of programms/dlls thats can run so i mean everything what need for vrc, is not beable to edit or put something in it, like VRLoader. Than is nobody for a long time beable to use clients or steal avatars easy. (idk how to call it but you can use the hash of the programm/dll/scripts for more safety(other hashes not beable to run, more work but more safety if you know what im talking about))

It's not that easy sadly

I hope you undersrand something i try to say

Theres always gonna be work arounds so dont expect much, if would help if they didnt make every dll open to edit such as the assembly-csharp lol, and also it is a unity based game so

At this point, I’ve given up trying to fight avatars being stolen..People will always find a new way to steal your stuff. So at this point, if they do steal your work and start to spread it around, just sit back, spark a blunt, and watch the community enjoy your creation.. (basically, take the L..join the club.. :( )

Avatar stealing is my least concern tbh. But people with 100.000 polys or other stuff that is not allowed bothers me to say the least.
Hagbard Celine
I dont create avatars that are worth to be stolen.
SHOKK
Hagbard Celine: Not sure if you're in the club of people who blame polygons over dynamic bones.
But dynamic bones and materials counts are more of a issue than polygons will ever be.
Lightning Test
SHOKK: Depends on the count. I have a 60K poly model that lags a ton with no Dynamic Bones if any Shape Keys are used on it. This means if someone uses it to talk (Visemes) frames jump from 90 to 45 even if you're just alone in a world with a single directional real-time light. Meanwhile decimating it down to 40K for some magical reason lets everything work fine with both Blend Shapes and Dynamic Bones, literally just swapping the mesh out for one with 33% fewer polygons. I don't understand this at all, I assume it hit some kind of limit or wall that pushed it over the edge into being horrible.
That said, yeah, polygons without animators affecting them don't really matter.
Hagbard Celine
SHOKK: I know. But is there a limit in the sdk that prevents people from uploading wast ammounts of crap on avatars? If so, shouldn't people with modded sdk's be punished?
xxx_red_xxx
Hagbard Celine: no and vrchat even took the sdk limits out from what I've heard (i havent updated my sdk out of laziness) cause the safety system can deal with poorly designed avatars
Hagbard Celine
xxx_red_xxx: My post is older than the removal of the limit. I just wanted to say there are no real cosequences for hacking the sdk or client. thats why people still use dll injectors and modified sdk.
