With the removal of Camera's being restricted to only friends, I am unable to restrict showing certain effects to friends-only. I was using this for text that shows on-screen and to not disrupt players who may not want to see that sort of thing. Please add a IsFriends local parameter like IsLocal to replicate this functionality

I'd like to bump this canny, which has just been made more relevant due to previous jury-rigged methods for imitating an "IsFriend" parameter, no longer functioning.

Previously the strange legacy behaviour of cameras for friends, could be exploited to detect friend status and drive animations accordingly. With cameras finally being recognised and added to the safety settings (thank you), this has unfortunately also broken existing prefabs and animators that relied on it, with no known alternative.

yes please. me and HFCred were going to even release a system to do it in a lot nicer way as well. a lot of people over time have been using it a way of doing friends only things as we don't want to disturb everyone with effects. so having a proper parameter for it would be amazing and a lot of people would love it.

I've done this with shaders for a very long time, since 2018, but this entirely relies on the friends-only nature of camera components, and is inflexible to anything other than shader. Having a parameter for this would be great and open up a lot more possibilities, and also avenues of personal safety/privacy.

while I would like to have this and i think there would be some cool things you could do with that I am not sure about the social implications of it...
some people are going to want to hide parts of or their entire avatar to non friends then probably.
I still think its a good idea and I would add some cool small features to my avatar, that'd make use of it. Just thinking of the overall implications on the platform.. :/

Zevvy: I have been messing with this, and there's no easy way for it to be done on our end at this point in time.
I can imagine it'd be a simple-ish implementation, since, what you mentioned, cameras are disabled for non friends currently.
