Age Verification being more visible: Change the color of user nameplate borders
Sawnec
I really think that if someone opts into being age verified as 18+ AND publicly displays it on their profile, the border around their nameplate should be red (or I suppose a selectable color per user). Otherwise it should remain the same as it is now where it's more of a faded cyan. It's just a subtle way to show that someone opted into publicly verifying being 18+, since even if you have nameplates hidden, if you bring up the launchpad so you can aim at someone with the laser you still see nameplates even if they're hidden. This solution respects people who are "age verified" and "hidden-but-verified" without bringing attention to their verification status and still highlights people who are publicly 18+.
This could also be disabled by the user, and I guess is a toss up if it should be enabled by default or a toggle, I suppose, but in my opinion it should be just on. It will help the more public worlds to identify verified adults with minimal effort, and frankly if you're making it public that you're 18+ anyway on your profile this is just removing a step to verify that for everyone.

why not a badge alongside avatar rank and trust rank?
Sawnec
°sky The method I’m offering is less clutter on the UI. Either would work, but mine offers more possible customization for VRC+ users.

Having it match the color of the selected Verified badge would be a great way to represent it. Either way, I'm wholly on board with this idea.
Sawnec
Farin Vikka Well, I imagined that individual end users could choose the color locally if they're VRC+, so for example I could choose royal purple and that's the color I see for 18+ verified around the name plate when they speak. I don't have any real suggestion for a default color for non-VRC+ subscribers. The end goal in my mind would be displaying the color change only if you publicly have 18+ toggled for the profile.
To be honest though I suppose there's no harm in allowing for the other tiers to toggle on visibility, and then also allowing VRC+ users to customize the colors by tier.

I see no reason for that. Nameplate already overloaded. Why should anyone know verification status of random people around?
It's not important information for EVERY user you see around. For people you are talking right now you simply can open full profile, it takes literally two clicks, providing also info on languages, bio, groups, etc.
Sawnec
kawashirov it's basically removing that step entirely in an elegant, passive way. Group instances will still exist that are open to everyone but still ask for your age before entry is granted. This streamlines that process for their moderation.

Sounds like moderator's problem, not everyone's else.
Also, why not just make 18+ instance?
