It's not a question about processing power, it's a question about copyright. They could add restrictions for it to run on the PS4/5 hardware like on the Quest/2, but they would have to restrict the avatars you can upload, it would require some sort of moderation wich would be inconvinient so that copyritghted content (game rips) is not uploaded into there.

Just take a look at what happened with Dreams and Super Mario themed creations to give you an example of what could happen. It's stuff that's restricted on console compared to the more open PC and Quest.

Issue is that Sony would have field day with copyright DMCA with alot of the content in vrchat from avatars to worlds

That is actually up to Sony and PlayStation. They can’t add it unless Sony approves it.

If Oculus Quest Can do it, Maybe a PS4 can too!
