Add control to temporarily disable FBT
complete
bd_
Sometimes it's desirable to temporarily disable FBT - perhaps you want to wear an avatar that doesn't support fbt, or maybe you just don't want to bother calibrating for an avatar that only has a humanoid rig for technical reasons. Previously this could be accomplished by opening the steamvr overlay, but now that avatar loading is super fast this is quite difficult.
Please add a way to temporarily disable FBT. Ideally, this should store the calibration of your last FBT avatar so you can switch back quickly, as the dashboard hack does today.

Not sure if it's okay to mention it here, but it seems like FBT remains broken unless the player rejoins the world. I remember it working instantly before, so maybe a recent update caused it.

Implemented in our new QM! Check the "settings" tab of the quick menu (the gear on the far right). When you're in FBT, there's a button to disable FBT temporarily.

Moving back to Open due to lack of movement on implementation. No immediate plans to implement this feature request.

[Build 854] Feedback: Add a "Disable Full Body" button
yui hellscythe
you should add a disable full body button like how there is a recalibrate. do it like how there was 2 buttons for seated and standing play have a recalibrate and a disable which temporarily disables it for your avatar till you recalibrate or switch models. i think this would fix issues with peoples trackers dieing and having to use steam to disable fbt. also if you feel this post shouldn't be here you can feel free to delete it.

I have some avatars I still like that don't work with full body and it would be nice to switch to them quickly without having to reset everything

I would love this option to be added, since just putting the trakers to charge is already detected and they prevent me from charge them while I'm in vrchat, because my body is broken (since I don't have them in my body). so, an option to disable fbt even having active trakers would be fine.

I believe if your trackers are removed from SteamVR and you hit "recalibrate", it'll re-detect if you don't have trackers and revert you into 3-point mode. Might be wrong, though. Give it a shot!

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: While good to know, this isn't exactly what's being requested. What they're asking for is more of an implementation of the "open steamvr while changing avatars to ignore trackers" workaround. As such a feature would be very handy for users wanting to switch to three point for a period of time (such as climbing maps where it's rather buggy or when switching to an avatar that doesn't support full body due to an incorrectly setup armature).
This is more important now than it was in the past thanks to the improved avatar loading time, leaving much less time to open steamvr while switching (and also to avoid bugs that are caused by this method).
Observer.
Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: Unfortunately not all full body setups allow you to disable or remove the trackers from steamvr during a session.
There is no reason that the button for recalibration in the latest beta that replaces the sit/stand option can't just open into another quick menu with more options related to full body. Something to consider in the future or if possible an addition in this beta would be nice.

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: Since it replaces the sitting/standing button - Top half of button, recalibrate, bottom half, en/disable - would be neat.
I can't turn off a tracker mid gameplay without having to plug it back into a USB hub to be able to turn it on again, the disable button would be helpful ;p

Boofy․: I have found that if you click change avatar and IMMEDIATELY open SteamVR, you're practically opening it before the switch always - it's still quite doable that way.
Though this is such an obscure "trick", I never knew about it until someone brought it up in response to this idea being requested. A button would of course make the "feature" obvious to everyone ;p

Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: Tupper, you seriously need to learn how to take feedback from the community. They're asking you to make your game work, and you replying with some kind of technical hack?
Besides the point, I've seen several people have to exit the game due to broken avatars, as well as myself. Having a reset button is a standard diagnostic feature, that should be present and a turn on/off function would do nicely.

Emmanuel Lopez: The official statement can be summed up as such, in regards to the OP:
There exists no method in our application to disable or enable full-body tracking at run-time. We expect that when you run VRChat, you start the application with the tracker setup you will use until you restart the application next.
Any behavior that results from disabling trackers at run-time, opening/closing system menus, or other actions is undocumented and unsupported.
It is expected that users restart the application when their tracker configuration changes. This may change in the future when we continue to iterate on this system, but do not have immediate (within the next 1-2 releases) plans to implement said changes.
Observer.
Tupper - VRChat Head of Community: It is frustrating to see the official statements just outright ignore that the game does switch at runtime. Meaning there does exist a method to enable or disable full-body tracking at run-time.
In the current open beta not only does the switching still work, but now it also successfully switches the UI at runtime when it detects full-body tracking from a 3PT session.
If it's automatically checking then a manual toggle shouldn't be that hard. I would love a more detailed explanation as to why some highly requested features that seem easy to implement are not being prioritised so that we are not waiting months to years for something that from my perspective could be done in less than a day and included in any upcoming beta for testing.

Observer.: Yeah, it definitely switches at runtime. When my trackers die, it relatively quickly switches back to non-FBT mode.

This would be lovely so i could charge my trackers via usb through my computer. Can't be playing vrc if my trackers are charging. Might be same for many others meaning i intentionally stop playing to let them charge at times. Very annoying
bd_
MuffinOfGood: Trackers charge slowly when connected to a PC, so I would recommend a dedicated charger in any case.

bd_: im aware but i live in a house where that would mean even more surge protectors. Only 1 outlet per room. I already have to greatly stretch it on my circit control with 7 of them in 1 room n 3 in the other. This is old housing, im sure there are others with a simular situation

MuffinOfGood: eh obviously u can play while charging. you just need battery banks
