Add an AI content identifier for worlds and avatars
EksCelle
Just today I have seen 3 X/Twitter posts of fully AI generated worlds made using GPT-6 Astra, one of them already published.
I fear this kind of content will soon flood the platform. VRChat needed to add some kind of AI tag or descriptor a long time ago. This kind of quickly and effortlessly generated content hurts existing creators on this platform.
Please don't let this become another "too little, too late" situation. VRChat needs an identifier for AI generated content added ASAP. Regardless of how end users personally feel about the use of AI, a way to separate and identify AI generated content from user created content is an absolute necessity.

The problem we have is the same as the music and video industry is facing: AI slop surpassed 50% of all music uploads in July, and YouTube has countless copycats who take and regenerate videos slightly different with low quality voice overs. It all sits in a legal grey area.
When it takes 20 minutes to churn out content with a monetary incentive, it just makes sense that people flood the market for a quick buck. Every platform including YouTube is rolling out AI disclosures.
There's a lot of us who don't wanna see it and we don't get much information before we hop into a world. At most, thumbnail, description and tags.
EksCelle
Kaittycat Exactly why it's such a failure that VRChat never addressed this a long time ago. Every day that goes by without them doing something is a problem.

I totally support this.
AI-generated content should be marked as such.
I don't know if the EU-Law does also cover VRChat worlds. But things that can be mistaken as human made have to be marked

Dang these genuinely look better than 90% of the slop people push out on this platform. if this becomes the new standard "slip" map we get going forward.... No more world hopping and finding maps that are just cubes with pictures.
"problem is how do you identify AI vs human content?, if its shit we just assume human?, what about the good human maps tho? they get mislabeled as AI because they are closer to the quality of AI than 90% of the human maps?, So good creators get punished as a result. Then again most people wont care one way or the other. Just vocal minority complaining about AI cause it trendy, and furry artist that are genuinely getting put out of work because nobody want to pay 60 dollars to commission porn from them anymore. lmao.
This is exiting!

I know I’m only one person and my opinion doesn’t matter but if vrchat keeps pushing ai content in my face im not going to bother creating in vrchat anymore.
There’s too many ai generated pictures with terrible worlds in popular and new and noteworthy.
I’d rather see a human made terrible world than a good ai world..
Now I know it’s technically not vrchats fault. People are falling for these ai image thumbnails and rising the popularity of these worlds. But at least put a tag on it or something.

-V I A- meh, 90% of the content that humans push out on this platform is GENUINE slop.
Ur prolly not any different. IF this is the new standard for slop on the platform.... its genuinely an improvement. Sorry not sorry.

Treekicker Rude... You straight up called my content slop. oh well. Your opinion doesnt matter to me :)
MelodiSmol
ALL genAI needs to be just straight up banned from VRC, and the fact they don't seem to care is disgusting. VRC is meant to be for HUMAN creators, not slop machines.
Rosalin Violets
Any AI content should just be outright banned. No need for a title or label or tag.
People have Brains to be creative. Use that instead.
T
Treekicker
Rosalin Violets you make the misconception that its about being creative at all....
It's about getting the product they want in many cases. They Creative part means nothing to them. You're thinking like an artist. They are thinking like consumers. Because THEY ARE CONSUMERS!
and they don't care if a human made it.
Gipzi_says
This is entirely unacceptable that VRC has let this go unnoticed for this long. AI usage is already a problem: world assets, models and textures.
As someone else in this thread mentioned: how many cannies is this going to take before VRChat does something? How many creators have to leave the platform before VRChat gives a shit?
In all honesty, at this point we need to start voting with our wallets. If VRChat isn't going to listen to the cannies, then maybe cancelling VRC+ and refusing to purchase anything at the shop will get them to listen.

Gipzi_says I'm way ahead of you. I've been boycotting with my wallet for a while now, but will boycott with my usage pretty soon if nothing happens.

Treekicker
Jasper Raine I'll get vrc plus for my buddies to offset that. it cool.

Fuck AI. Can't believe these programs intended to exterminate humanity are allowed in any way to be involved with VRchat. LLMs are based on theft, and ought to be deleted and have the plugs pulled on them.

Mildly disturbing this is an issue to such an extent. Vibe coded world assets are already kind of common, so seeing it become fully automated makes me feel kind of dirty if I'm honest.
I do hope the devs take this into consideration.

I've absolutely had it now with VRChat and generative lie machines and asset imitation. DO. SOMETHING. NOW. I will no longer be exploring worlds made or updated after September 3rd, 2026 unless it's a user I trust or until SOMETHING is done!
Seeing this post led me down a rabbit hole to finding out about GTP6 because I normally can't pay attention to the news or the world at large and BOY AM I UPSET.
If VRChat doesn't do something by the end of the month, I may actually just stop using VRChat entirely as clearly the feedback website is just a hole to yell into for the devs to ignore. This is ridiculous. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!
