Add ability to disable your visibility in other player’s cameras
Cyrus Arji
Add an option for a player to enable / disable / set to friends only whether or not they will be visible in other player’s cameras when they take pictures or stream.
This has several benefits:
-Increase general privacy, adds a mechanism to opt-out of all photos.
-Allows friends to take photos of you while disallowing others from taking your photo
-Removes a common source of friction and trolling (especially in public instances) by preventing a primary trolling method.

YES. I currently had to buy a prefab that puts a box around me that shows up on cameras so people can't take a picture of me if I don't want to be in something.
make it a option in vrc!

You can technically do this with a custom shader on Windows (e.g. Poiyomi Toon materials) and animations (fallback) with
IsOnFriendsList

Yes, I use this option myself for a number of things; but the reality is that 98% of people wont know how to do this, and most users don't even have a custom avatar uploaded. Integrating it into the app is a better way to go.

IIRC this may have come up sometime in a Developer Q&A Stream last year (2025) and the answer from the Twitch chat was there are only so many layers available in the Unity engine that it's probably not plausible to implement.

I've yet to see a troll do anything with a camera, usually it's a desktop user, so they can record their screen, or take screenshots

Fair point, In such case I cannot see how they would stop that since players will always remain visible one way or another on the screen alone. However it's something we can "fix" if we choose to not hangout around Desktop users due to this very reason. There are many "bad" content creators who record people without their consent & make fun out of them for some stupid views. There are some that I'm aware of, Even Polish community has some known "disliked" people who record without consent, Also blocking them is not enough since they make new account every time they want to record somebody for content. Also yes, In theory they could record directly in VR headset but that is much less likely. I'd like to see a feature that somehow fixes or combats that problem anyhow since I have to stay anxious & aware at all times without a break whenever on. After all your only ally & tool is your own ability to read the room, people's intentions & each word in between that was said so far.
