Ability to hear out of specified ear placements on avatars.
Jared
I've been wanting to be able to move the location in which I hear audio from on avatars.
For example, some of my avatars have ears on top of their heads or somewhere else besides the human placement.
If I am wearing an avatar with ears on the top, like a fox or cat, I would like to be able to hear from the avatar's ears instead of where my viewpoint is.
It would be even cooler if we could dedicate specific locations on the body for either the left or right audio (if that's even technically possible). Perhaps just being able to move it around like the viewpoint ball can already do.
- Perhaps maybe a toggle settings as well, for those who like the avatar, but would like to hear like normal. This way the avatar doesn't feel too uncomfortable for the users if the uploaders have this feature enabled.
For security sake,
I think that only being able to move them around a certain distance from the head would be perfect, so that that players wouldn't be able to abuse the distance to spy on other players in a world.
I believe this would be a great way to be more immersed with the avatar people are wearing.

This sounds like a cool Idea. I know the idea is for things like animal Ears, and I've got an Avatar that could make use of such a feature. But I think Elf ears could also receive some benefit from this.
I wonder how you would make the limit around the head, given it is technically possible to make an avatar without a head bone. My guess would be its simply based off of a radius around where the viewpoint is set. Also I'd think it'd be reasonable to Force symmetry. As interesting as it might be to have asymmetrical ears, that sounds (ha) quite disorienting even for the more adventurous. Though I guess it could be toggled off being part of the same feature (That itself could maybe be toggled per avatar). I don't know exactly, I just want adjustable ear placements to be a thing.

I can imagine that being disorientating for some users but I like the idea a lot!

Ericbazinga That's why I proposed the idea for it to be toggleable. Preferably through the quick menu or wheel menu.

It would be nice if in addition to position, a direction could also be specified. E.g. how wickerbeasts have "backwards" ears. That'd probably involve messing with the audio cone code though which would be a greater undertaking than mere position. Nonetheless, would love to see it.
