Having a Contact Receiver type that is an an adjustable box shape where X, Y, Z positions of a contact sender within the bounds are output as 3 float parameters would be incredibly useful for any number of avatar interactions, including far easier touch-screens using less contacts, musical instruments, Radars, etc. I've included a Mock-up of what this mode could look like.

This would be extra useful now that contacts are in worlds; things like dance floors or paint canvases could be handled this way.

would just love a Box Contact. you have to place contact in weird way to get them to do what you want, or move them up and down fast to make it fill the part i want to trigger a thing

very yes, one could create bounding boxes for game mechanics in avatars with this

An additional feature I'd like to see with this would be the choice between how to handle multiple senders inside the box. One option could average the positions out between all senders, and another could be based on order of entry (first, last, etc). As well as a simple bool/float for whether or not something is inside of the object, or perhaps an INT counting how many senders are inside. These could all be very useful.
