We're investigating this bug!
So far, it turns out that this is due to a change in Unity, not in VRChat.
We're working with Unity to get this issue resolved.

Did a few tests today with some avatars that were affected by the scaling bug earlier (those that have Write Defaults On in both the Gesture and FX layers) and it appears the scaling issue has been taken care of; the avatars do not appear big when entering the VRCStation and after leaving the station.
Tested them using the seats in the Avatar Testing Chamber and the dance pad in the MMD world.
The pictures below featured one of the avatars that were once affected by the bug (I did not change anything on her beforehand in Unity).

"Available in Future release" means it is fixed and will be available in the next release ? or does it mean we can't fix it now, but we will be able to fix it in the future, so in the future release the fix will be available (but not this next release) ? The vrchat community are literally standing still waiting for this to be fix because we can't sit down nor dance. we can still walk :/

This is also happening in the spider lair when flipping but I have only seen it on pc not on quest

I've done some similar testing with several avatars and can corroborate with what Fizzytaco has reported.
I can confirm this issue only happens to avatars that have both the Gesture and FX layers set to Write Defaults ON.
I did find a temporary solution: If you change the Gesture layer of your avatar to Write Defaults OFF, it will fix the problem and your avatar will not be affected by this scaling bug.
|OPERATOR|
Taranja: Any layer that plays has a chance to randomly distort the avatar still even with this fix, tested it and while it allowed to sit, the avatar was glitching depending on states.
Taranja
Setting the FX layer to Write Defaults OFF instead of the Gesture layer may also temporarily fix the problem, but like Operator said it is not guaranteed to fully fix it.
This is a problem VRChat needs to address since it affects all stations, not just chairs and beds, but even the MMD dance worlds as well.
Reimajo
Taranja: There is nothing like chairs, beds or MMD dance pads in VRChat. All of those things are VRCStations, just with different animations applied.
Taranja
Reimajo: As I said, it affects all VRC stations, including those. Doesn't matter what animations are used. Avatars with WD ON for both Gesture and FX layers will be affected by this bug when entering any station in game.
Reimajo
Taranja: I was explaining to you that there is no difference between those (chairs, beds, MMD pads) and of course they are all equally affected because they all do the same thing, putting the player in a VRCStation with an animation, nothing else.

Worlds with avatar scale changing breaks the avatars
ZeirTheFox01
Going to any world that changes the avatar height seems to break the avatars. Here's a screenshot from Laserdome, when pressing Start, Reset or getting hit, but that also happened on iY MMD and MMD home when playing an animation. When that happens, only the avatar change fixes it temporarily. The included screenshot shows my POV when that happens.
EDIT: seats also seem to do that and I've added a screenshot too

Vehicles and games break avatar scale
Vyath
When entering a vehicle, the avatar appears to increase in size, despite the height value not changing in expressions menu. Your eye view stays the same, but your avatar appears larger and hunched over. I've noticed this effect in the worlds "Waluigi Pinball (mk8d)" By REAL FREDDY236 and in "Lightcycle arena" By MyroP. I've also noticed the same effect happens in "Dead Men Walking" By Jar even though the world doesn't contain any vehicles. After you play a game, die, and are sent back to the starting area the avatar is affected in the same way.
Resetting the avatar in the expressions menu does fix the issue, but of course also loses any toggles and sliders that have been set in the menu too.
