VRChat fullscreen has black bars
tracked

When entering full screen mode via alt+enter, VRChat likes to re-use the windowed resolution for full screen.
This results in resolution stretching and / or black bars on the edge of the screen.
To replicate: Start VRChat in windowed mode. Maximize the window. Enter fullscreen.

this doesn't happen anymore (well, at least to me).
however, the window's resolution is still used when you >start< VRC with a pre-configured (in launch options) resolution and in fullscreen (i.e. when the last time you used it it was in fullscreen), until you exit an re-enter fullscreen mode again.
reported that in a more detailed way here: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/desktop-fullscreen-mode-starts-at-wrong-resolution

Here's a cool VRChat video:
Unfortunately a lot of the footage has black bars, because of the fullscreen bug.

This bug has been reported on ProtonDB, too. Though it's not a Linux-exclusive bug.
I think this is really worth fixing - Putting VRChat into fullscreen seems like a handy feature!! 😁

Additionally, you can start full screen, go to windowed, maximize, and go back to full screen and get black bars.
If you resize the window in windowed mode and then go to full screen, the resulting render window remains the same shape and is stretched to the screen bounds with black bars.
Maybe we make VRC reset the display dimensions on full screen?
