Seems like this is an EAC issue, since the same thing happens with Fortnite.

Edit: it seems like it fixed for me yesterday

Still an Issue
Reproduced multiple times
No matter how I close it its stuck in memory and task manager nor powershell can kill it
Cammie~
Been seeing this is as well. Noticed the following error in my log during shutdown; Unsure if cause or coincidence.
2025.12.22 17:21:17 Error - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The issue is still relevant.
The essence of the problem is that the process VRChat.exe remains stuck in memory.
This can be confirmed using additional tools like resource monitor, process explorer or rammap.
However, the process cannot be terminated using any standard methods (task manager, taskkill, stop-process -force and etc).
The only thing that helps is a full pc restart.
PS: but, if you wait 1.5-2 hours, it eventually closes on its own without needing a reboot.

reproduced today on my compy
* open elevated powershell
* > Stop-Process -Name "VRChat" -Force
this is still a bug, but workarounds ahoy.

elsyian This runs in powershell but does not ultimately work
